Sending out a gigantic Thank You! to the Wolfman. He was kind enough to make a personal appearance, armed with only a tool bucket and decades of experience and savvy.
Accompanied with his faithful canine companion, he saved my hash with the briefest glance at my fuel system. He cranked the engine and red dyed off road diesel spurted down the engine block into my drip pan.
”Not the injectors at all. The flow’s too heavy.”
He twisted the fuel line’s bleeder plug. Tight, but that was where the leak was occurring. He pliered the knob loose, unscrewed it and found the copper “squash washer” missing. It had fallen into the puddle of diesel at the base of the injectors. He slipped it back into position, threaded the plug tight and saved me untold trouble and expense.
”Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again!”
