Trail camera pictures taken within the past couple of weeks. Yes, they do still have antlers and are still breeding the last few does here.

That reminds me of the bear jokeBad thing was that I was wearing a doe costume that day !!!
A hunter was sitting in his blind hunting deer when nature called so he walked a fair bit away, dropped his pants and when he finished a bear came along bent him over and had his way with him. Really upset the next day he went back but this time when nature called he took his bow with him but as he was about to pull up his pants the bear grabbed the bow which was leaning against a tree and snapped it in half grabbed him from behind a proceeded to his his way with. The next day even more upset he goes back but this time he takes a 30:06 semi auto but once again nature called and on the way the bear stuck his foot out from behind a tree tripping the hunter and has his way with him once again. After finishing the bear looked at the hunter and says you really don't come here for the hunt do you.

A Grandson just got his Whitetail mount back from the taxi. This years on the right compared with one he got a couple of years ago.

Well it's about time to start thinking about my deer plots.
I mix up a batch of 41% .
And then give the plots a good spraying.
After the grass dies I bushhog them down to the ground.
Next comes the subsoiling.
And then the discing.
The 3 point seeder puts out the fertilizer and Wheat & Oat seed.
The small plots get fertilizer with the 3 point but seeded by hand.
Next the disc blades are turned straight for a light covering. Hopefully I will have a packer of some kind before it's planting time this Fall.
A young buck takes a stroll across the food plot.
Another non-shooter, probably 2 1/2 years old. He should be a good one in a few years unless he walks by the wrong person. Sure some that we pass up get shot, but some don't.

The above pictures are from last year.
Today I loaded the sprayer onto the 4wheeler and sprayed the food plots. I am getting ahead of the native grasses this year before they seed out. I should have done it years ago.

I shot and killed a nice 240lb black bear with the bow yesterday. I took some pictures but he was dead (looked dead as well) and he contained blood, so I won't share them.
For those of you that have not gutted a black bear, let me tell you, it is not as easy as it sounds. Being all inter-connected it requires a lot of delicate cutting to get all the guts out without ruining any meat. On a deer all the guts pretty much fall out making it one of the easier animals to gut out. Not so with a bear.

We did well this year on caribou. Granddaughter field dressed one. Her first time. Alot of work. Son got a nice one too. Overall we got 5 and the freezer is well stocked.

Oh wow, thank you for showing pictures of what I will never be able to see myself.
We did make a vacationing trip throughout Alaska, but not a hunting trip. The Grandchildren enjoyed getting cards postmarked North Pole.
