help I broke my girlfriends tractor

She is away at a seminar and I'm farm sitting and was trying to move a dirt pile and something broke on the right front wheel spindle?

#1: Walk out to where you were working and pick up the parts you left behind, should be at least a cap or a cover.

#2: If you would have stated what model tractor it would really help with identification of parts that are needed to repair it and what is involved.

#3 First thing tomorrow morning call a Kubota dealer in your area and get it fixed. It's not going to be a cheap repair, looks like the casting is broken, use your money to fix it not hers!

#4 If you can not get it fixed, go to Uhaul rent a moving truck, pack quick and go into hiding, as She's going to kill you when she gets back!

Yes, look for any pieces left behind, clean all the parts and maybe someone here will help you identify what you need. Good luck. Take a picture of serial number tag, usually on left side of tractor (from the seat)

Its an L5030 I have the snap ring 2 washers and the cap. I can push the center pin up but the bearing looking thing won't budge. Is there some place to get a diagram of what it looks like inside there?

She'll be back tomorrow. I'm not worried, she's crazy about me. I just wish I could get it fixed because I have so much more work to do. I save the tractor work for when my knee gives out and it's too hard to walk.

Figured I'd let her enjoy herself while on vacation and not tell her till she gets back. Sucks because I've been busting my aspen around here trying to get some things caught up. I wasn't even working it that hard. Heck the dirt pile is half the size of the tractor

You might have gotten lucky, the part that I thought was cracked is actualy made that way, here is what your looking at inside.

On rare occasions that snap ring has been know to come off and the bearing (170) moves and pops the plug (150) out.
The 2 washers (180) are shims that set the load on the bearing and gear.
Lift the weight off the front end and see if you can get the bearing to fit back into place then install the shims and then snap ring and the plug.
then you will have to refill the front axle up to level with UDT fluid approximately 9.5qts.

Wolfman thanks so much! I'm away from internet and it's such a pain searching on this phone. I know she wouldn't have been too upset with me but it made me sick thinking about it. She works a day job plus has this 10 acre horse farm with. 4 horses 2 dogs and 2 cats, a lot for one person. We both greatly appreciate the help, thanks again .

when you say a little play.......
like a sheet of paper thickness? or 1/8"?
where is the play? side to side or along the axis?

Normally a little (1/16 to 1/32) play Up and down is normal and needed otherwise it will force the gear up too far and be too tight.
Side to side play would be a bad and you'll have to dive into it a little more.

On the hub there is a drain plug remove that plug and when filling wait for a little fluid to start to run out that plug then put the plug in and fill to capacity.

If it pops the snap ring again then 1 of 2 things is going on, either the snap ring has rounded edges and needs replaced or there is something more going on in there.

Yeah only about a 16th up and down. Off to get some fluid now. I think what happened was there was some loose gravel and the tire dug a hole and the bucket got caught and raised the tractor up then when I released the bucket it dropped the tractor and axle down on a chunk of concrete that had been buried . Thanks again everyone, really appreciated.

Just to add here for future reference. I had to take the tire off. I used a round piece of wood and hammer to free the race, it took a few taps then went up by hand. I used a little bit of the oil that I was able to collect on the face of the shims to get them to stick for a few seconds to get the snap ring in. I just used a pair of needle nose pliers to get the snap ring in but I had to file them down a little to get them to stick through enough to hold. I see why Wolfmans idea to loosen the drain is a good one as the system seems to trap air. Learning this thing from the ground up
