Hello,
I am new to the forum and wanted to get some advice on grooming mowers. There seems to be a bunch out there with a wide variety of prices. I want a decent implement to pull behind my L2800. Im thinking woods or land pride but not sure if there is a better bang for the buck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum neighbor I live in Henrico not too far away from you. Either one of those two brands are top of the line and dont get any better then either one. You should be able to pull a 6 foot mower just fine with your L2800. Rear discharge are great to have as well.

Davis Merchant Kubota I'm sure as you know is your closest dealer and I believe they sell both Woods and Landpride over there.

I prefer a rear finish mower. My first tractor had a belly mower and the last three have had RFM's. My first RFM was a 5' side discharge Caroni bought from Central Tractor when they had a store near me. Parts are still available from Agrisupply. I still have it and the old Ford 1210 I bought it for. It is a cheaper mower but has taken an awful beating after adding a B7500 10 years ago. It gets used for rough stuff but still does a nice job on the yard.

The B7500 had a Landpride 5' side discharge RFM. The Landpride was a lot heavier and better built deck. Last Summer the B7500 was replaced with an L3200 and a 6' rear discharge Landpride RFM. This is by far the best combo I've had. I was a little timid about trying a rear discharge deck because I was afraid it would windrow the clippings like my in-law's Deere. My worries were unfounded. It does a great job and I can do our 2-1/4 acres in just over an hour.

I've got a Bushhog brand finish mower. I've used it 14 seasons and the only thing I have done to it was replace the caster wheel bushings with the upgrade roller bearings. I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th set of blades but I cut up to 14 acres if I have time to cut everything.

It's sitting in my shed right now ready for service and the way it's looking it will be here for another 14 seasons. I have no complaints what so ever and I would hands down reccomend Bushhog brand to anybody looking for a quality mower that will last. The new ones are even better than the one I own due to the upgraded gearbox they come with.
