Sickle bar mowers on jon boats are used to mow a few inches under water to cut cat tails. They smother and die. Easiest way to get rid of them things!

When life gives you lemons, make some lemonade. Just replace grass with rice, plow with your rice field tractor, harvest with jon boats and turn a profit.

Mine's getting out of control and it's been less than a week since I have mowed. It's growing like crazy! Worst of all, I haven't invested in a grass bagger. On the bright side, I have two 13 YO twin boys who I make rake after I mow. Anything to keep them off the gaming systems.... ;)

N.Y,
I have been lucky and have had a dry day every 3 days to mow the top but the low pond area is 2 feet tall and I have my sickle bar ready to go (y)

It was wetter here last month (last picture from 4/3/24). There's what is normally a small creek in our front yard that gets pretty wide sometimes. Can generally get on it with the tractor a couple days later.

The first picture is from 9/1/21 and represents what happens between 0 and 4 times a year. Water is over the road where the driveway connects and it's fun watching people plow through it. Second pic is from 9/4/21 and the L4240 can be back to mowing.

The last picture shows what happens mor frequently. Much smaller flood, and after it recedes about 1/2 hour cleaning up remnants of soybean stems and cornstalks.
