I have been very unhappy with my 60" mower decks ability to provide a decent, let alone a good cut. I had the stock standard blades. The ability of the deck to pick up grass was non existent. So before trashing the deck and buying a 3pt finish mower, I thought I would try a set of Gators. The grass was getting quite long as I've had some evening meetings and waiting for the new blades to show.

Well, i must say I am MUCH happier with the cut now. I mowed about 2 1/2 hours tonight. I can actually see the grass being sucked towards the deck. I also hear the howl of the deck like my old mower did. The grass behind the wheels for the most part now is cut as the rest. The right wheel doesn't get cut quite as well as the left side, but that could be something to do with the deck. I also end up with a small ridge or strip positioned at the inside of the right wheel. This isn't a blade issue as my old blades did the same thing. Something it did9do a year ago.

The Gators are wider and thicker than my stock blades. They have about 3 times the surface area that is used for providing lift compared to stock. I does seem to mulch the grass better, but how much I am not sure. It seem to blow grass about the same as the old ones. (7'-8') There have also been no noticeable power reduction or requiring the tractor to work harder.

At this point, I cannot see a reason to get rid of this deck now.

Thanks for the update and review, have been thinking about a change to Gators myself. Where did you order from and a part number?

The part number is 396-612. They say they are for grasshopper mowers, but if you actually look up that part number, it will also say Kubota. It will not however come up with a search for Kubota. I bought them through Amazon for $22.63 each. I have prime, so free shipping and in 2 days.

Thanks, I will order a set as I also am a Prime member. Will make the swap this fall when it is time to change over to snow. No hurry on snow for me.

Use those blades in the Fall to mow over the fallen leaves. It will shred them to almost nothing. Won't be anything to rake up, at least in our case!

I use those blades too. They have a higher temper steel to hold the cutting edge sharper for a longer time. Much better than the older G3 Gatorblades. They are a very nice upgrade.

Good tip on the fall leave mulching, I would hate to have to rake at the lake and lots of leaves. Amazon and I thank you for the tip :)

I have used Gator Blades for several years, and really like them. Provide reasonable lift, somewhat mulch, and keep an edge. For real mulching (pine needles in my case) I duct tape the discharge opening closed and the material gets ground up into dust. I bought mine based upon blade length and hole diameter and learned that blades are measured diagonally from tip to tip.

I've used gator blades on my last two mowers. Including the finish mower I use behind my L3800 and really like to job they do. To be honest, I never really thought about the lift they might provide but they really must provide some as both my front and rear tires roll over the grass before it gets cut and I've never really had a problem. I mowed last night after about 10 days of rain so my yard was still a little wet and didn't have any problems at all

Question...I have an older T1400 and was considering Gator blades. Besides the blade dimensions and the Kubota part number for the OEM blade, do I need any other info/would Gator blades work on this older mower? A Google search for Gator blades for this mower turns up negative. I don't get a lot of lift with my stock blades currently. I'm about to re-sharpen the blades, but if I can get something better I'd like to. Thanks!

Anyone have the Oregon part number for a Kubota RCK60-24B 60" mower deck? I think the original blades are 20 1/2" with a 1 1/8" hole, but I'm not certain. And I'm too lazy to pull one off to measure the hole.

Here is the item - in the description it say 1 1/2 center hole - but if you look down in the specs, it corrects itself to 1 1/8 as it should be.....

this is just one source to find:

08quadrum,,, is that part # for a 60 inch deck or the 54?? Talking about tough,, my wife hit the steel water meter cover last week. The cover had 2 big notches, the blades on the mower, barely a dent.

If you go on ebay the blades are easy to locate for specific tractor/mower deck. I just ordered a set this weekend. Really hoping they work way better then the factory blades. Im not in the least bit happy with the quality of cut out of my bx.

Have same deck. Put 396810 on, the leaves dont stand a chance come fall. Have another spare set for future use.
