Any reason not to leave the fuel shut-off on all the time on a B7100?

I never shut the fuel off on my Fords but the guy I bought the 7100 from made it a point to show me the fuel shut-off and said to always shut it off when it is parked. Twice now I have ran it out of fuel by forgetting to turn it back on. I would rather just forget to shut it off and not worry with it.

Nope no real reason to shut it off unless it's leaking.
Never shut mine off.

Bob, you have to be real careful who you listen to. Some folks get something in their head and nothing can change their mind. Like the others mentioned, I've never turned off the fuel shutoff on the B7100.

Shutting the fuel off on gravity fuel systems is/was a standard practice especially on carbureted engines because gravity-flow can flood the carb AND the crankcase can fill with fuel.
But I cant imagine it being a problem with any kind of fuel injected engine.
(Habits are hard to break however.)

I ALWAYS shut the fuel off and run the carburetor dry after each use on my gasoline powered tractors but never shut the fuel off on my diesels (excepting service related reasons).

I fully understand the reasoning behind shutting the fuel off on a gas engine. All 3 of my tractors are diesel never saw a reason (for my use) to own a gas tractor.

My gasoline tractors are collectors.
