We were never oil independent. And we are producing the same now as the record levels in 2019. In 2023, a new record of production is planned. And oil companies will also continue to see to the highest worldwide purchaser, so we will continue to not be oil independent and will be subject to worldwide prices. Unless we quit exporting, we will never be independent.
There is no question it is a Global Market and the notion of Energy/Oil 'independence' would depend on how that is 'defined'. There are good (and bad) reasons to import and export. And it is done for a variety of reasons.

But when you reach the point where domestic demand is satisfied, the strategic reserves are FULL and you are exporting more than you are importing (net exporter) that's pretty damn energy independent. And that isn't what we have now.....is it?

The term is not used to convey insulation against global influence and pricing.

I think its misleading to look at a single issue…step back and look at the all the issues…me thinks this is when the old doe lifts her head up and starts snorting and stomping as she thinks something is amiss.

I think the anology would be F’ing up a baked potato or maybe burning spaghetti either takes some serious talent…no body can be that wrong that often…unless they are trying to be 🤔…then they would be tilt the pinball machine and not losing their turn.

All I will say is we are on target to be very close to the record 2019 production year by year end, and production is planned to set a new record in 2023. Interpret that however you wish. Read the full report, not just the graphs.

US production at record levels, yet worldwide there are shortages affecting prices.

Haha.....

That is like being buried up to your neck in sand....but the tide is coming in 'slowly'.

It takes a real optimist to appreciate drowning slowly. ;)

I think its the other way around. Apparently, half the country have their heads buried in the sand (or stuck somewhere else ;))

5.09 at the no name station, 5.69 at the truck stop, they didnt even have diesel prices, I think they figure if you need it ,you are going to buy it whatever it costs

Still CHEAPER than anything up here in Ontario, once you pervert liters to US gallons, and Canucks to greenbacks..though if you get Rez gas ,it's at least 20 cents per litre cheaper.....

In case you were too distracted by the latest distraction to notice what they are trying to distract you from in the first place. Food plants are being destroyed daily now. It’s not a mere 16-18 plants….
I saw this the other day.

WTH is going on with all of this. How is it possible that that many food plants are all of a sudden destroyed?

Premium seems to be approaching regular diesel now. I don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing since we use about the same amount of each. LGB.

$4.50 to $4.59/gal for regular gas where I am. I saw it for $4.65 in the town west of me. I think diesel is about $5.36/gal here.
