I agree fuel prices are going crazy, but congratulations to some of you who voted for it. You guys must be pretty happy. ;)

Seriously though, I feel bad for those who were barely making it and now are paying the inflation tax and paying escalating fuel prices.
Nobody voted for the fuel prices. Oil companies are in control regarding prices.

Sure... But don't forget that corporations look to maximize profits. After all that's what keeps shareholders happy. If they can make more money selling oil produced in the USA to another country China, Japan Europe ect... do you really truly think that out of the goodness of their heart they would go... Oh wait lets keep USA oil in the USA and forget about the profit....
Until Congress authorized export of oil several years ago, exporting oil was illegal. The oil companies lobbied for this.

This is what happens when people that never built or bought anything make decisions. I wonder where all the electricity comes from? Anyone see any new power plants breaking ground. Grid stable as is? Good thing mining rare earth metals helps the environment. Put your helmet on and bite guard in…it’s gonna get bumpy.
In my state there are several new natural gas power plants being constructed or they are converting obsolete coal plants to gas.

Still cheaper than southern Ontario..... and if we stopped exporting it, it's be 50 cents a gallon.
It still needs to be refined, and the last refinery that was built in the US was probably about 3 or 4 decades ago. Everyone keeps saying "not in my state", but it has to be refined somewhere, just like electrical energy has to come from someplace, but the people want it to magically appear and not see where it comes from.

This morning passed three gas stations:

The first station had gas at $4.15
The second station had gas at $3.99
The third station had gas at $4.59 and diesel at $4.89.

These stations are all within a mile of each other.

I buy all my fuel on the other side of the Mason-Dixon line, the tax accounts for the difference in price. Interestingly, the stations on both sides have business, people just don't care about the waste of money.

Johnny come lately. And the price the week before the invasion?
Yes, they have been increasing worldwide all year as the oil companies have had to ramp up after losing big bucks during 2020 due to Covid. Thanks to the law enacted by Congress US oil is now exported and is priced on the world market.

You’ve all forgotten what happened last time gas prices went up to these levels in 08!
Can anyone say “FUEL SURCHARGES”?

Everything will get hit again with the fuel surcharges and recession kicks in.
Wish I was wrong.

I just did the conversion and all the math. My Supreme/Hi-Test is the equivalent of $8.84 USD for 1 US Gallon. ($1.80/L CDN)

Yikes !
