I would like to solicit suggestions for my L3901 and B7100. Both are still in floodwaters from Harvey in Brazoria County, Texas, south of Houston.

Please see the attached photos. Water was 4 inches deeper at the peak of the flood. We still have a foot of water in the house, so life is rather busy. It will be a while before I can begin to have them serviced. Yesterday the driveway still had 32 inches of water. Maybe clear by Saturday.

When the water goes away,,, if ever ,,, looks like Irma might keep things wet,, drain everything, trannie oil, engine oil, front end too dont for get to drain that and refill, and if it was over the top the fuel tank as well. Change filters and refill with now clean hydro, motor oil and fuel
Wash her all down GOOD and might even toss some disinfectant on it,, ya never know whats in the water when it gets that high.
Pop off the electrical connections, safety switches dry and clean and give then a shot of lube to protect them from any more moisture. And you should be good to go. I may have missed a something, I dont think so .
My heart and prayers go out to you guys, I wish everyone there a safe and rapid recovery

Thanks, water was only 4 inches deeper than shown in the photo. Just over the foot rest on the L3901. It was at the oil filter on the B7100.

I will likely need to hire the dealer to service. We have our hands full.

B7100's were designed to work in rice patties so it's going to take the wet a lot better than the L.
But the L is higher and because of it's age might be sealed up a little better than the B.

I agree with skeets have a complete fluid and filter change done.
Pull all the fuel and add Soltron and Stanadyne to all your fuel and tanks.
And if you have homeowners or flood insurance then make sure you get the insurance company to pay to have them worked on. ;)

The only thing I will add is that it would be best to drain and refill before starting or running them. Follow that up by repeating after a short interval.

What a mess, my heart goes out to all of you. We are drier than a popcorn fart here with several fires around us. Not good but, more manageable than what you folks are dealing with!

If water didn't reach the intake, you should be good to go. But like others stated, drain and change fluids before doing anything. And do not start the tractor before changing fluids.

Being in the rental buisiness, I see equipment getting close to being submerged fairly often. And the occasional piece of equipment that someone mistook for a submarine
Unless there is a vent plug that's been submerged, or the air breather and exhaust have been under water, you probably dodged a bullet and will find that water didn't get into anything.

I have a couple diesel powered water pumps currently at the shop that went completely under. But weren't running. We changed all fluids, and pulled the heads just to make sure that everything was clean in there and no signs of rust on the top end. New head gaskets and they were good to go. We also replaced the control panels, starter and alternator. The rest of the electrical connections got cleaned with contact cleaner and dried off with compressed air.

If they have been running and submerged, then it's a new engine.

Sorry to see a nice place like that under water. Hope your stock survived, and that you have some hay that is salvageable.

The L3901 has a computer! The only caveat is that it's about the same area above the battery. I would check for a witness pattern or high water mark in this area.
