Just received my new Wicked 55 grapple. Ordered it on April 27th.
I haven’t unwrapped it yet. EA does not ship it to your house. I had to drive an hour to a freight facility and pick it up. I was aware of this when I ordered, just wish EA shipped to my house in Bremerton Washington.

I'm sure you'll love it. EA has a fanatical following.

That was the bonus of ordering from Homestead Implements (grapple) - their carrier dropped it off in my driveway.
The real reasons were saving $250 for 40 additional pounds of material (279 lbs vs. 239 EA); and the 5 weeks between order and delivery.

Not entirely true. The "free" shipping does not come to your door. In my case the FedEx depot is 15 minutes from me. It's also in the city so it has 11% sales tax. My county only tax is 5.5%. So my next implement will come to my door for the same price with how expensive everything is getting. I know not everyone pays sales tax....but this is how it is for me...

EA advertises "free shipping", but that is somewhat deceptive.
Their "free shipping" is only free if within 1,000 miles of EA.

Then......THAT "free shipping" is ONLY to a shipping terminal near the buyer, or to a commercial/business address near the buyer, that will accept the shipment for the buyer.
EA "free shipping" is NEVER FREE to a residential address!

Doing as described above, provides EA with a MUCH less costly shipping rate!

Agreed. It’s also NEVER “free”. The customer paid for it in the sales price. (and those outside the 1000-mile range pays even MORE…subsidizing their other (inside-the-1000-mile) customers. . I don‘t buy from EA for those reasons.)

Congratulations on what is arguably the toughest grapple on the market for our tractors.

I've ordered five items from Everything Attachments including a Wicked 60 grapple, 84" Extreme Duty box blade, an 84" land leveler, a 72" Wicked Toothbar and 1,020lb of suitcase weights. The grapple, box blade, and suitcase weights all shipped to a FedEx depot 15 minutes from my house. The toothbar shipped to my house and the land leveler to shipped to an MTL depot about 2 hours from my house. I'm in Montana so certainly not within the 1,000 mile radius but shipping costs weren't that bad given the price and weight of the implements.

How is it deceptive? They clearly state their policy on their website, and when you place an order they tell you where the item is going to ship to and how much it will cost. You have the option to cancel the order if you don't like the shipping terms.

Oh, so every other company that advertises "free shipping" is actually eating the cost of the shipping. Ridiculous!! It's good that you don't buy from EA since it means one less in front of me when I place an order.

I have no issue paying very reasonable shipping prices to Montana. Once again, the most noise is coming from those that refuse to buy from EA or have no experience with their products.

I agree!
I do not like their shipping policy!
That said: I very much do LIKE their products.
To get their exceptionally high quality products, I have thus been reluctantly willing to accept their business policies.

Shipping freight to residential addresses is more expensive for a number of reasons. This isn't rocket science. Any company shipping heavy implements has to find a way to pass on the shipping charges to the customer or else reduce their margins. Some companies import Chinese crap and put a sticker on it and so they have less upfront cost and can offset the shipping costs in other areas to have decent margins. Any company advertising "free shipping" has to pay for that shipping somehow. They either pass on all or part of the cost to the customer in the form of higher margins on the implement itself. I'd rather buy the best non-Chinese made implement I can find and pay for shipping than support Chinese economic growth.

No…not true. There “IS NO FREE SHIPPING!” Either you understand YOU pay for it in the purchase-price….or you are being played the Fool.

When I make a purchase decision I disregard “free shipping” claims and make comparison to the other sellers of the product sans-shipping. (I.E. deduct ordinary shipping charges from the “free” claims before making the comparison.) Doh.

It’s never free, that’s true, customer always pays…I think they are trying / offering value shipping to a terminal within their 600 miles…but they aren’t misleading about it. Depending on the implement they do ship some to direct to residence…potato plow was shipped direct to my door UPS. I think they are trying to offer value in the shipping without being a freight forward specialist. It can always be shipped direct to your door…but that may take some effort to arrange on the requestors part.

I agree…Shipping is never free to the consumer. You’re either charged for it, or it’s embedded in the item’s final price to the consumer. I think most of us always look at the final “out of pocket” cost when purchasing an item along with whether that cost is the best value for the type of item we’re looking at purchasing. That choice is up to the consumer.

I have to respectfully disagree with your statement, “(and those outside the 1000-mile range pays even MORE…subsidizing their other (inside-the-1000-mile) customers. . I don‘t buy from EA for those reasons.)”

I consider it to be the opposite: The consumers closer to the manufacturer inside that 1000 mile radius are paying the average 1000 mile shipping cost whether they’re next door, 100 miles away or anywhere within the 1000 mile radius. When I bought my EA grapple, the add on shipping cost was very minimal for the extra mileage. Who actually paid more for actual shipping costs: the person 100 miles away that paid the full purchase price? Or me, by only paying a minimal additional surcharge to ship the item some 1460+ miles?

I agree with others: EA is very upfront with their shipping charges and all it takes is an email/phone call to find out what the extra charge will be if you fall outside the 1000 mile radius of their free shipping range. Rather than the man hours to calculate the exact shipping charges, logistics, different carrier possibilities for every customer’s inquiry for their individual location (whether they actually purchase an item or not)……they’ve obviously figured out an average cost for the 1000 mile radius (for their.... and to their.... carrier’s locations) and included that in each item’s price. Outside that 1000 mile range…..a small (or it used to be small, anyway) surcharge was added for the additional mileage.

In the end, the consumer is in the driver’s seat making the decision that works best for him. You can purchase from them or not. All the info you need is onsite and/or available just for the asking. The consumer has to figure out his best way to retrieve the item from the carrier. Nothing wrong with that plan. IMHO

"within their 600 miles" ?
Has the "free shipping" distance changed?
