Dirt in the gas line

My son went to mow and when he filled the gas tank he left the cap off. Since we have a lot of dust it apparently sucked some in. I started by replacing the fuel filter but it keeps happening. Every time I change the fuel filter I drain out the gas in the line until dirt quits showing up. Then o go mow for awhile and everything is fine about an hour or so it starts to bog down and die. I repeat the process. I am looking for a better solution, more permanent. Anybody got any ideas?

As NIW says... BUT have your SON, pill the tank and clean it( be SURE to blow dry ) , then reassemble and fil with NEW, fresh gas..
that way he'll ALWAYS put the cap back on !

should have added... NOT as a punishment, treat it as a quality time with dad experience, wrench turning is supposed to be fun for every one !

The first thing that came to my mind when the OP asked for a permanent solution, get a new son! But that wasn't nice or practical, so GreensvilleJay's solution would probably be OK. ;)

Everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is that they learn from them. And having him help will be a learning experience.

Turn a negative into a positive.
