I have an M5700 4WD, with a loader. The tractor/loader have just over 2000 hours, and work great on the whole. In the past few months the ability of the loader to lift/curl with heavy loads is decreasing. The H fluid level is good. We often use the loader to lift pretty heavy loads like gravel or big logs. Is there a relief valve that can be wearing out, thereby not delivering hydraulic pressure to the loader? If so, would it be in the spool or in the tractor hydraulics? What other causes might there be for this decrease in power? Thanks,

Relief valve is #1 suspect.

Others would be worn or bad cylinder seals, worn or mis-adjusted linkage to the loader spool valve, worn or bad hydraulic pump.

Put a gauge on it and then you'll know. ;)

Could be the internal seals in the cylinders letting fluid by-pass.

Do you have any leaks anywhere?

Does the fluid look normal or does it have a milky color to it? Could be sucking air which would cut down on power.

Thanks for the replies. I will check the fluid again for color. Wolfman, where is the relief valve, in the spool?

Nope no relief valve in the spool valve that I see, unless it has an aftermarket valve.

Post a picture of the valve and I can tell you for sure. ;)
