My new to me 94 hstb7100 speed control won't engage. I get up to speed in high range , set control knob to up position and nothing happens?? How does this feature work? Tks to all

It's a very simple system that holds the pedal linkage at a certain point.
Sounds like you will need to pull the HST cover and inspect the mechanism and linkage.

dump the clutch and give it some throttle Tks for replies. I checked device , tightened up spring tension,but the two mating surfaces have become so slick and smooth in 20 yrs(1994 model ) that it just won't hold. I plan to rough up the slick part and see if that helps. Maybe some rough grit Emory cloth will work. Again my thanks.
Guess I should read owners manual a little closer. Plainly states speed control only works in low range! Strange , but true .
