Cruise control won't work

My new to me 94 hstb7100 speed control won't engage. I get up to speed in high range , set control knob to up position and nothing happens?? How does this feature work? Tks to all

It's a very simple system that holds the pedal linkage at a certain point.
Sounds like you will need to pull the HST cover and inspect the mechanism and linkage.

You know.....never tried mine !!!! MIGHT have to look to see if the cruise works!!:D

Tks for replies. I checked device , tightened up spring tension,but the two mating surfaces have become so slick and smooth in 20 yrs(1994 model ) that it just won't hold. I plan to rough up the slick part and see if that helps. Maybe some rough grit Emory cloth will work. Again my thanks.

Guess I should read owners manual a little closer. Plainly states speed control only works in low range! Strange , but true .
