Could you put d950 pistons in a d750?

Looking at the specs all the engines in "d" family all have the same stroke, just different bores. I'm going to rebuild mine and figured I'd install d950 liners and pistons in hopes of a couple more hp.

Are the valves bigger in the D950?

Has anyone tried this yet?

Thx

The heads and valves and cam are different on the D750 and the D950.
While changing pistons sounds like a good Idea, it will lead you to a series of problems, like fuel delivery and compression.

Obviously the cam, valves and maybe the inj pump could be bigger/different; but if the pistons are the same height with a bigger od it should give 1-2hp with a little turn at the inj pump.

Does any one have either piston to measure?

Thx

I'm no expert here but wouldn't the outside diameters of the cylinder liners (and the i.d. of the bores in the block casting) differ between a D750 and a D950.

If they were the same it would make for mighty thick liners in a d750 vs a D950, wouldn't it?

Over sized pistons should already be available. The sleeves are often bored 5 over for rebuilds anyway.
