My BIL next door has a Woods RD990X on his L4740HSTC that's a real beast. He bought it almost 8 years ago and keeps it maintained and out of the weather. It will last a lifetime. It will cut up to 7" high. That kind of quality doesn't come cheap. They're close to $8K new.

Yeah, it's kinda like the "Red Key" the green tractor guys use for extra 25% HP, but I don't really need, or want to feed the 400 HP Cummins that the tag came with!

I just HAD to see what the deal was with the dull paint ... I use to recondition and wax cars as a side job after high school ... So I washed a small patch including the fuel door, down to the Kubota decal, and a spot on the wheel . . . Then less than 30 seconds of wax ... I think it will look good from a distance, it still has scratches and rust that wax won't fix ...

View attachment 158240

You can kinda see where I washed it, but only waxed half of the fuel door ...

It will take A LOT of elbow grease, but in time it will look much better!

Took it for a 0.4 hour ride out back through the roughest section ... Much smoother ride at 3.5 mph like what I mow with my SCUT, will probably be able to mow that at 5.5 mph ... Front field should easily be able to go max speed in M range, which is 7.1 mph, if the mower will keep up, above 2400 RPM's don't seem to hold, from other reading 540 PTO should be about either 2600 or 2700 engine RPM, I'll read the manual once I get them ... A/C blew cold the whole time.

Front tires stated max pressure of 35 PSI which one was at, other was at 32, I reduced to 30, will probably reduce more, but want to see what the manual says, since it doesn't have a loader, I can't imagine it would be over 20 PSI ... LR tire was at 8 PSI, RR tire was at 14 PSI, I left them there for now, the one at 8 didn't seem under inflated ...

The back of my barn is open on 2/3's of it, I have a cattle panel across it to keep stray dogs out ... And my cats can get in there ... No mice allowed in my barn!

I had to rearrange stuff to make it fit, but it's out of the weather now, and once I get a mower for it, I will need to get some racks to get more stuff stacked up, using my trailer for 2 pallets ...

View attachment 158243

I park my truck in there when I'm home, and I like to leave room to get my tractor in and out without messing with the truck ... Kitties jump from the bench on the left to the table, raccoons can't make the jump, and they have learned that 11,500 volts of electric fence is not worth some cat food!

I bought my first Kubota with over 6000 hrs on it when I was young and she ran strong for many years!

I love your truck stickers. The ONE thing I DO know, you got the most important decision of your life correct!

Yeah, the Bush Hog brand I can get for $7200 with the optional center anti scalp roller from my local dealer, I've seen them a few hundred more than that without the roller, one thing I like about them is they don't have any guards hanging down, they just feather the rear down for discharge, since I live out in the boonies, I don't worry about stuff flying out anyways ... My Massey Ferguson dealer has been very fair to me. I gave him a chance to sell me this second tractor, but he didn't have anything close to what I wanted, so I drove the 50 miles for this Kubota.

I have mostly Bush Hog brand attachments, other than my sprayer ...

That's good news! My brother told me before I knew how many hours it had, that even if it had 10,000 hours, for the 40-50 hours a year I anticipate to use it, it would last me until I graduated to heaven!

My previous truck had what we in the trucking business call an APU, stand for Auxiliary Power Unit, it hangs off the frame rail behind the fuel tank, before the first drive axle ... It provides HVAC needs for inside the truck, plus keeps the batteries charged, since it shares the coolant from the truck, it's nice in the winter to have the engine already nearly 100°F before starting ... That truck has a APU by Carrier who used a 2 cylinder Kubota engine, the changed the oil ever 2500 hours! And mine had just under 15,000 hours on it we traded it in at almost 4 years old, truck had 599,763 miles!

IMG_20241219_113702261.jpg

We now are back to using Thermo King, who makes there own engines ...

I'm a firm believer in making sure someone can read my message, sometimes even squinting at the tiny bumper stickers, I still can't figure out what the intent is ... The Bible says his word won't return void. It as simple as black and white!

Your diesel engine in your Kubota will last your lifetime and beyond.

I’ve had many several Cummins truck engines that never failed with very high miles.

I know the LORD uses people to spread his kingdom. I know, because I didn‘t believe for a long time. From a friends death from the military ( he was saved ) and a conversation we had two weeks prior to him getting killed, AND the supernatural stuff that happened later, I got on my knees.
There was only one explanation. Super crazy story for another time. Prob won’t allow on here.

Hadn't thought of a pump, just that a 5 gallon bucket is cheaper per gallon, according to what I've read online ... This larger version of the L series takes 12 gallons, whereas my neighbors smaller L4400 only takes 8 gallons ... Compared to my little SCUT takes just under 3 gallons!

View attachment 158263

Is the pump a Kubota item, or just a oil transfer pump? Manual crank or electric?

My concern is more of how fast can the fill port take the fluid, as my SCUT needs it kinda drizzled in, can't just tip the 2.5 gallons jug that I buy into it all at once ...

I sprayed the lower arms ends with PB Blaster last night, they are "stuck" or I don't know how to use them ...
The lower arm ends are released by pressing down the blue part that sticks up. It pivots and then released the part with the ball the pin goes into. When you get an implement connected just back up with the implement getting resistance from the ground and it all locks in place, then pull forward and go to work.

You mean these?

IMG_20250703_170551~4.jpg

I tried to press them down, they wouldn't budge, so I doused them with PB Blaster, will try again when I'm home next ... But I plan on getting a quick hitch too next time home, so not critical that they work, but nice to have stuff work properly ...

Since it was missing the top link I assumed they used a pull type mower, but the salesman said they remove all top links, and store them up stairs, he looked and couldn't find the one for this one, but gave me one from a different one that they had sold, that apparently also had a hydraulic top link.

Those look like telescoping arms that will move in or out to connect to the implement (so you move the arms not the implement).

I think you might have to take the arms off the tractor and put them into a “tub” of PB Blaster. I have used PVC pipe with a capped end as the “tub” to reduce the volume of penetrating oil required. I have also used Evapo-Rust in a similar manner to get all the rust off so it stops rusting after it is painted.

Let them sit a few days in either solution just because it is easy!

Good luck with them!

My tractor has those telescoping arms and they're handy. It looks like someone fiddled with the right one (double-nutted bolt). They may not want to slide in and out easily with that rust. It's worth the effort to free them up.

Here's a screenshot that shows the parts. Some parts are side-specific. Others, like pins that will obviously work on either side have separate reference numbers for left and right sides, but the same Kubota part numbers.

I figured between the PB Blaster, "maybe" a hammer to wake it up, C-clamp to put pressure on it, then hook a rear blade and help it get loose ... Once loose maybe grease?

Like I said, I'll probably just use a quick hitch, but if it's there, it should work

Attaching a rear blade (or any other implement) will not help that lever move. You push the lever down and the arm with the eye will be able to move a few inches out. You must pull that piece to get it to move. When it's pulled out enough to reach the desired implement you out the pin in. Do the same on the other side. Connect the top link. Now, when the weight of the implement in on the ground you back up a few inches and the part you pulled backwards will mover forwards and lock into place.

I figured that's how it worked, but figured if I couldn't squeeze it down that if I put pressure on it with the C-clamp, and then rattle it with dragging the blade, it might loosen it up?

This probably the worst of the "Rocky pasture" ...

IMG_20250412_070943702.jpg

Occasional I'll hit one just right to drag it up out of the ground, I then stop and pick it up and toss it in my bucket, if it leaves too big of a hole, I'll grab a few smaller rocks from the bucket to fill in the hole ... I try to always mow with rocks in the bucket for front ballast, as the 5' brush hog is a tad heavy for my little SCUT!

That's awesome right there. And I appreciate what you do to. Truckers damn sure have EVERYTHING to do with my day to day as well as weekend life.

For years, I've been thinking about something to do for a possible round two of my work life. I want/need something kind of solo though. Don't want to work or interact with large amounts of idiots. Only maybe a couple a day LOL.

My mind always goes to trucking.

Unfortunately lots of idiots on the road today!

These are my videos, I personally experienced! Note this is a very wide angle lense (fish eye), so "objects appear farther away" than normal '

Makes a left turn in front of me, he had multiple signs saying no left turn, do not enter, he was trying to go up the exit ramp the wrong way!

This is the intersection looking the opposite way, taken from where he was before he pulled in front of me, I was where the orange truck is, circled in blue!

Duncan SC~3.JPG

https://rumble.com/v5l95ck-oops.html

Here's one while waiting patiently to get into a truck stop, idiot passed on a double yellow going the wrong way, then I have to chase him down on foot as he gets stopped at a traffic light, (hit & run!) he then denied hitting me, refused to share paperwork with me, I called the sheriff!

https://rumble.com/v697aep-rips-my-mirror-off.html

This one just happened Sunday! We have sensors, camera's, and front radar so we can't get to close to anything, the anti collision system WILL slam on our brakes and cut out fuel if it thinks we will crash, so we can't wait till the last sec to get in the left lane, many people don't understand this, and insist on passing me on the right then cutting in front of me, this idiot cut it a bit close, If I hadn't served and braked, he would have tore off my fender!

https://rumble.com/v6w4e7u-dont-pass-on-the-right.html

I'll be glad when I retire in 31 months, hang up my keys, close and lock my gate, and stay home!
