I was in the market for a SCUT, as I'm only on 5 acres, but it is a heavily tree covered forested area. It is very tight in between the trees, and even with a BX there's a lot of area I cannot access. I was more concerned with the operation of the backhoe and other implements, than being able to pull a green tractor backwards!
I went to JD First, I wanted to check out green, come on, it's as American as baseball and apple pie. Why do JD SCUT's have a Chinese transplant in them? Surprise. The backhoe controls to me were very jerky, and didn't transition from twist to extend to curl well at all. It felt very robotic, and stiff. Hmmmmm maybe I should look at others?
Price wasn't the only concern, to me you always need to look at resale. Kubota retains great value. I don't think I would consider a Korean or Chinese tractor, I'm sure there fine, just not for me. What really sold me on the Kubota is actually working the controls. The K felt so smooth and transitioned easily between functions without jerking or stopping. Wow, nice. Dang, I like this! 0% financing, if I want it, nice too. Sign me up. I have not regretted it in the 2 1/2 years I've had it, and still am amazed at the abilities of this little tractor. Sorry for the long winded story. Nothing will sell a Kubota faster than actually using one. Awesome tractor.

Bearskinner, you ask "I went to JD First, I wanted to check out green, come on, it's as American as baseball and apple pie. Why do JD SCUT's have a Chinese transplant in them?"

I don't think there is a diesel engine under 40HP made in America. But that information is probably 20 years old. Now it may be much larger engines, and even those get parts from the world over and assemble them here.

The world is a changing:D:D!

I know many auto, truck parts etc are made in Brazil, Mexico all over and sent here, that wouldn't bother me as much as how the fit and feel when they are assembled. I had a body shop, and we used some Chinese sheet metal that was priced so inexpensive, we had to try them. Problem being it took so much time to fit them, the cost savings wasn't worth the labor cost.
I flat out didn't like the feel of the JD hydro controls. It felt cheap and jerky.
Quite honestly I've always had an American truck, but if an import made a product that eclipsed domestic, I could be swayed to change. I hop in my truck and still love it, I use my Kubota and still love it. Yeah the K is from Japan, most of my truck was probably built out of the country, and the seat and A/C installed here to say assembled here, but I enjoy them and am happy with the quality, till something better comes along
