Clutch will not disengage

Tractor left idle for several months now clutch will not disengage. Advice

First thing to try is to take it out and work it while holding the clutch pedal down, any heavy load PTO driven implement will help too.

Like North Idaho Wolfmans said, put a load on it and see if the clutch frees itself from the flywheel....but remember....until the clutch frees up, pushing that pedal will not allow you to stop the tractor. You have to remember to shut off the fuel!

How about a plow to work some ground? Or a box blade to work your driveway?

My L1501 came with a block to prop clutch linkage, for this very reason. Took some reading to figure out what it was for.

A heavy load should break it loose. Failing that pull inspection cover and get a bar in there and try to rattle clutch with a hammer. GENTLY. On pressure plate,not on disc.

You may be able to start the tractor without the clutch dis-engaged BUT be sure you do that after you have it headed into open territory!
If it won't start you may have to pull it and figure out how to disengage the tow rope from moving vehicles. Somewhere on here is a description of how to get stuck clutches unstuck-I think it was an article so look in that section of the site

Our Farmall 140 did the same thing last summer. I mowed about 1 acre with the bush hog cutting tall grass holding the clutch pedal down before the clutch finally let go. We made a wooden block for it to hold open the clutch so it doesn't lock up again. The tractor is used weekly during the warmer months so the block is only used during the winter months.

My L3901DT has a pin to hold the clutch open for long term storage. I found out about it when I read the manual.
