Hi, it's to freaking cold out for me to troubleshoot on how to do this, but what is the easiest way to jump start the battery on one of these? Also if the battery is bad do I have to remove the entire hood in order to change the battery out?

I heated the engine up for a long time yesterday and it turned over, but acted like the battery didn't have enough power to start it.

You should not have to remove the hood to remove the battery. I have an L305DT, and I've had the battery removed a couple of times. It's heavy and awkward but possible.

Easiest way to jump start is (as simple as it sounds) put the cables on the proper battery terminals!

If you can't do that you can put the positive on the positive nut at the starter, and the ground to the frame.

Be careful if you place the positive lead TO THE STARTER lead - no matter if the tractor is in gear or safety switches are not "on" - the starter will turn and the tractor could move!:(

Not sure on your model where the battery is and or if you can sit on the machine while holding the last negative side. But I would bring the other battery as close as possible and connect the last negative lead while sure your foot is on the clutch/brake etc.

A bad-dead battery is very hard to jump, once a battery gets way down the best answer is to remove it and charge it, or replace.

If you have a charger - place it on the lowest setting - like 2 amps - and charge for a few hours and then see if there is a difference in starting ! If not - replace the battery!

Thanks. Yeah I had seriously planned on using the starter connections.

Yeah I know, I work on vehicles all the time just not tractors.

I've jumped a completely dead bad battery with the jumper I have. This one is pretty old so I'd say it's no good. I do have a charger and I'll probably charge the battery to see if it works before getting a new one. My battery is all the way in the front behind the radiator.
