BXpanded Piranha Toothbar

I am strongly considering adding a BXpanded Piranha Toothbar to my 60” bucket on my new LX3310. Have read lots of great remarks about this product and would like the extra “bite” when digging the front bucket in and the extra strength it give the lower edge. My one concern is if the teeth make back dragging dirt or gravel less effective, leaving th serrated pattern on the top. Or is the actual length of the teeth insufficient to cause problems with this. Your experience?

Back dragging is great with it. You can have smooth, or tipped down, you can have an aggressive serrated edge.

It also gives you a little more volume when getting full buckets.

Backdragging is MUCH better with it........as Sleddog mentioned.
There is a 1/2" lip on the bottom and that can pull dirt/gravel whatever in a very smooth path.

Like already stated, I have had no issues normal back dragging. The only way to make grooves would be to tilt your bucket quite a bit to get the tooth bar as perpendicular to the ground as possible.

I’ve been looking at the Piranha also, I think my BX would really benefit from the extra rigid cutting edge. I was also looking at AI2 Products cutting edge, it bolts on matching the holes already in my bucket and is reversible... straight edge or toothed. I think I’m leaning more toward the Piranha though.

I have a friend who put the Piranha tooth bar on his BX sized tractor of about 23 HP. He loves it and says there's no comparison between the before and after capabilities.

I really like my toothbar. It makes the bucket more effective when digging and clearing brush. I have not noticed any issue with the back dragging.

I had a B7510 back in 05-2010 and was really disappointed in the factory edge of the blade for cutting into a pile of dirt that’s been sitting a while. I was a rookie then and still am but I know what I need to fix the problem these days. I wish I would have kept that one but we all make mistakes!

Just a word of caution when back-dragging with a tractor, especially with a BX since it has one curl cylinder.

If the curl cylinder(s) is/are extended way out (dump position), and back-dragging, it's pretty easy to bend or otherwise damage the curl hydraulic cylinder(s).

That said, I think the PTB was my second modification to my tractor. Has never been taken off, even though they are easy to remove. Great things!

Thanks for that info, I did hear or watched a video about that the other day. I would have never thought of that... forums and YouTube are great tools!
