I tried to snowblow a guardrail and it didn't work out well for the auger. Can someone walk me through changing the auger?

Pulled mine apart last summer. Couple pictures to help you.
Start at the back side.
Remove the PTO shaft.
Set screw gear to shaft and bolts from side to remove chain assembly.
three bolts to remove shaft bearing on back.
slide bearing off shaft.
Front side
remove bolts from bearing from each end of auger shaft.
slide auger assembly out front.
pull bearing off end of shaft
auger slides off shaft.

If you didn't shear a shear pin, something is terribly wrong with the setup! 
Also I would worry if you did damage to the gearbox!

Ordered the auger. Yes, i will confess i have been using bikes for years. Got the idea from a merchant marine mechanic who suggested it. They work fine for the secondary auger, which i heake to replace frequently. I hope the gears are ok. I'll switch to shear pins for the primary auger.

When you replace the auger section make sure you get the correct shear bolts.
Something to consider...
While the augers are off you may want to add a few extra zerk fitting to it.
We experienced corrosion on the inside of the shaft and augers. With only one grease fitting the grease didn't fully penetrate the entire length of the shaft allowing moisture/corrosion to occur.
By adding a few extra fitting along the length it helps to ensure there is a grease barrier between the auger and shaft. If binding happens the shear pin is no longer functional.
