BX2370 with Turf tires or R4s?

Long time lurker. I think i've read every thread in the past 3 years that mentioned 2370 or 1870.

I've settled on the 2370 for my purchase. I had settled on the turf tires, but I'd like some opinions from the board on the main difference.

This will mostly be a grass mower on a flat 2 acre yard. About twice a year, i'll be mowing a 2-3 acre hillside that is fairly steep in places. Right now i mow it with a pull behind Swisher mower behind my ATV. I'm assuming anywhere i can go sideways with my ATV, this Kubota should be able to go.

I'm getting the FEL and the 54" deck. So knowing all this, what do you guys recommend for tires? I was going with turf since it would be mainly a yard mower. But i'm starting to want R4s because i know i'll use the FEL more and more.....

Thoughts?

I wanted r4s and dealer didn't have them so let me take tractor hone with turfs and will call in a couple weeks when r4s came in. I was impressed with turfs the only thing I didn't like was the flex on the front tires while using fel. Traction was suprisingly good with turfs. I now mow 4+ acres regularly with the r4s and no problem tearing grass or ground but I don't mow wet and most if the area was pasture so it's not a golf course. I have a 2670

I have the Turf Tires. I never ran the tractor with anything else so I can't offer a comparison. But for flat ground and lawns, the Turf Tires can't be beat. Even on slopes if grass is dry. If you regularly get into mud, that's where the R4s come in handy.

PS. Unless you have some tight spaces that only a 54 will fit into, get the 60" deck. That extra 6" inch cutting path saves more time than you might think.

IF this is 95% of what you do .....turfs are the perfect answer!

"I never ran the tractor with anything else so I can't offer a comparison"

- I have both, and I really do NOT like turfs........UNless I cut grass on them all the time, otherwise, I like R4's.....FEL/BH - R4's are the right answer, cutting grass, level yard, turfs are perfect.

Negative!
Especially with the FEL on it, your center of gravity is much higher!

I would stay with the turf tires, they will work fine with a loader.
R4's on a slippery grass hill will have your shorts soiled in nothing flat! ;)

sounds like me. Mostly a big a$$ lawnmower with the occasional FEL work around the house, or helping a neighbor.

TURFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The industrial, or bar tires will shred your yard ! Yes... the turf fronts will squish down with a full bucket, but I just run them up to max pressure if am actually going to give the FEL a workout. (and not just picking up a couple quick things)

My 2 cents... take it for want it's worth.

I have a BX2370 that I use for snow blowing, road grading, and moving gravel and dirt with the front loader (no lawnmower). I have no problems with the turf tires and traction, but under 2" of topsoil I have all sand. I couldn't get stuck if I tried. If you are going to be in mud or wet clay you need some advice from someone who likes to play in that stuff.
One comment on the mowing, I take by ATV a lot of places I wouldn't think of taking the tractor.

When I bought mine, I got it with the R4's but in the spring I bought a set of turf tires on rims for about 500 bucks new. I like the turf when mowing which is most of what I do. But if I take it anywhere to play in sticks and stones. I put the R4's back on. Thicker rubber and all.

my bx2230 came with turf tires- use it to snow plow- have pulled many a zero turns out of the mud. does not eat the grass- good tires for all around use unless you are pulling extremely heavy dirt plow

I had originally set my mind to turf tires. This is just a big ol lawnmower for me most of the time. I have plenty of dirt and gravel to move with the loader when i get it, but I dont think i'd attempt it if its wet unless i have to. My main issue with the turf tires was whether or not they would be ok on my hillside. I think they will be fine as long as its not wet. Hoping to get this tractor within the next week or so while these good promotions are going on. Waiting on a quote from Barlows and then i'll make my decision.

And mowing with the FEL attached will never happen. I have a feeling it will be off the tractor sitting in the shed most of the time. But its basically free right now with the promotion, so might as well get it. Better to have it and not use it than to not have it and need it.

You know what you what you will be doing with the mower. You will be amazed at the uses you come up with for the loader. In two years you will wonder how you got by for so long without a loader.

OK your in WVA Im in SW Pa same land lay out, unless your in a housing project then its all flat more or less. You in my humble opinion will never go wrong with the R4, I filled mine and 70 pound wheel weights per tire,, and trust me you will run out of traction long before you run out of power. Draging fire wood plowing snow and mowing grass,,
unless the ground is really wet and your trying to drift your BX,,, you then you will tear up the yard,,, However driving slow when its wet and thinking about your turns and how to do what you want to do, and you wont have a problem. and come snow time,,, bada bing your good ta go,,, this is of course my humble opinion your mileage may vary, dealer prep and options are extra

We had a BX 2200 (mower only) with turfs and they were overall great. We traded for a new BX 2670 with loader and MMM with R4's. The R4's are just too rough to mow They have almost no flex so when we mow I adjust the air pressure down to 6 pounds in front 8 in back. In dirt or grass or dry ground the turfs are just as good as the R4's. Both or OK on the yard. Thinking about ordering a set of turfs for the 2670.
