Hi all,

First time poster here...hoping to be first of many! :)

I'm considering purchasing a 2005 BX2230 with 265 hours that has FEL and 60" MMM (and a few other smaller extras). Machine has been meticulously maintained by original owner, has always been stored inside and is in excellent condition overall.

With that said, would you pay $9000?

Thanks!

Yep right in line with it's selling value.

Low hours is always a plus!

Thanks Wolfman. Since it isn't coming from a dealer, I just want to make sure I'm not paying full blown retail.

To get a similar setup brand new, I'm guessing it'd be around $16k.

With that low of hours it's just getting broken in! :D

Yes you would pay a lot more getting it from a dealer! ;)

I would say it is a "good" deal.....have you asked him/her if they would take $8500? Never hurts to ask, worst they can say is no........
or ask if they will throw in something else.....

I paid $6200 for an '04 with no fel several years ago. It did have a sun shade and 54'' deck. you will have to repair the front steering cylinder around 375 to 425 hrs. Not terribly expensive.

Thanks for all the feedback!

OK, so here's an update...lowest the seller will take is $9125. Now I know I'm on a Kubota forum and I'm sure the feedback I receive on this scenario will be biased, but there's also another one I'm interested in and would like to see what you all think...

There's a 2013 Branson 2400H with FEL & Land Pride back blade with only 25 hours that I can snag for $10,000. Seems to be a steal since it's basically brand new, all warranties will transfer over to new owner, and they're about $13,000 brand new without taxes. I'm just not too sure about the reliability long term with the Branson vs. the Kubota.

I like that the Branson is a little bigger and I'd certainly benefit from having the higher ground clearance when mowing trails in the woods, but am torn on what to do.

If I got the BX2230, I'll need to buy a snowblower or back blade for plowing, but will be set up nicely out of the gate for lawn mowing. If I buy the Branson, I'll be set up for plowing snow, but will need to buy a 3 point finish mower.

So what do you think...get the Kubota or Branson?

I'd go for the Branson. A friend has one and loves it. It has about 500lbs on the Kubota, and bigger tires/wheels - generally more traction.

Good point...the Branson is a bit heavier. I really like the extra ground clearance as well (although maybe that isn't that big of a deal?).

I'm just hoping that if I get the Branson, that it will mow my grass pretty well with a finished mower attached. I'm trying to help justify the purchase by being able to sell my regular lawn mower. :)
