I have a 2001 BX2200 with over 2.4K hours on it.
Recently I had a front u-joint go out, the rear of the 2, there are 2 of them.
I do not want to purchase the whole assembly, does anyone know where one can purchase just the u-joint?
The local dealers where I live want $85+shipping for the assembly. Ridiculous in my opinion. I should be able to purchase the u-joint from somewhere.
Any help is appreciated.

Take it to NAPA and see if they can match it up to something aftermarket. ;)

usually the yokes are damaged when the joints fail, which is why kubota sells it as an assembly.

also the new stuff is updated, another reason for assembly only.

Lastly, if kubota did offer the joints alone, it'd probably be about $80. They're proud of their u-joints. I had to put 2 of them on my G1900 last year, and they were right at $80 from Kubota. I found the listing for the aftermarket joints based on their sizes but could not find anyone who had them locally, order only and...$30 each. Just got them from Kubota, they fit, no screwing around, we'll see if they go another 30 years.

Thanks to all of you for your advice.
I ended up finding the exact replacement for these on summitracing.com supplied through an after market company called GMB. You can go directly to GMB.net and follow the drop down boxes select the measurements and the type of u-joint you need and that part number directly correlates to the part number on summitracing.com's web site.
This part is, rounding up, $19.00 with shipping. I'll be ordering 2 so that I can replace the other one on that same shaft.
As far as my yokes are concerned, they are not damaged in any way so I will be reusing them as it should be. In all my years of being a mechanic I have never replaced a yoke on a drive shaft with the exception of my race cars and that is a whole different application than this.
Thanks again everyone!

Do you mind sharing the dimensions or part number? Some folks may not have the necessary measurement tools to accurately measure.

Glad you found an economical solution.

The exact measurements are as follows:
- cap dimensions - 20mm/0.7875"
- from the top of one c-clip to the top of the other directly across from it -
38mm/1.465"
- Overall length with caps installed - 53.65mm/2.112"

Here is the exact part on the look-up part of their web site. (Link: https://www.gmb.net/u-joint-lookup/)

Just cut and paste the web address into your web browser and it shows you how and where to measure what you are looking for.

Peace

I have an update:
I purchased the U-joint that I stated I would and I attempted to install it this weekend.
I ran in to an issue. The Cross of the u-joint was too large to fit between the yokes. The caps fit perfectly.
I needed to modify the length of the u-joint cross so that it would fit between the yoke ears. I ended up milling about a mm off of each of the 4 ends of the cross and assembled it into the yokes of the u-joint and it works perfectly.
So if you order this u-joint for a BX2200 front drive shaft know that you will need to modify the cross so that it will insert into the yoke and then you can place the caps and C-clips on.
Cheers!

Thanks for the update.

When you say you milled about 1mm of the ends of the cross, do you mean you have a milking machine? I suppose this could be done in a lathe with a four jaw Chuck as well.

Just curious how you milled the ends of the cross.

Now that's funny! :D:D:D

Obviously this was to be milling.

The purchased u-joint cross was 2.007mm in length and the original u-joint cross was 1.966mm.
I used a Bridgeport Mill and shaved off 0.5mm on each end of the u-joint cross.
The Caps had to be pushed a little farther into the yoke so that the C-clips could be inserted properly.
I've used the tractor several times since this operation and it works great!
