Well, mowing around trees today, got close to large limb. Snagged steering wheel and broke the mount. This is the entire cast piece that hold the battery, etc. It's going to be a PITA to take this all apart and replace. Can't image what the cost will be. It's aluminum.

If I understand the part that broke correctly, the price isn't too bad. There appears to be 2 pieces, left and right side, and are approximately $80 each.

I'm thinking it might be pn: K2581-57202 and K2581-57222 and are shown in drawing "M13500 CENTER PILLAR"

Good luck and post pictures if you can.

Hey, you just made my day. I could only find it at messicks as a figure and not part number, and the figure showed it as one massive assembly. Both arms up near the steering wheel mount have snapped in half. I can't put up a picture but it appears I may be able to tackle this myself knowing now it is two parts and not that entire assembly. I thought I would be removing radiator and everything in that area.

Thanks.

Pull it apart before you order parts. That way you know for SURE what parts you need. The reason for the suggestion....they're a royal pain in the backside to replace, and you don't want to have to do it but once, and you sure don't want to tear it all apart and find another part that'll take a week or so to get it while you've got it all torn down. There are a lot of little things in there. To me, it's tedious.

I REALLY wish they'd made that part of the tractor differently!

That's an understatement. It seems they built this tractor around the loader valve, which is now sitting on the two pieces I need out. I'm not sure how to proceed now. Spent the good part of all morning just dissecting.

They must be rolling on the floor over at the Kubota design shop. I suppose it's my own fault for buying a small tractor but these two brackets that hold the steering valve are crap pot metal. Surprised they didn't snap before now. If you own one of these smaller tractors, DO NOT put too much pressure on the steering wheel.

I wouldn't complain too much. If the metal was stronger, that big branch you snagged could have flipped the tractor over and landed on top of you.

Looking at your pictures I see that the brake pedal is on the left side, making that a BX1870, not a BX1860. I have a BX1860 so I am hoping that part on my older tractor is stronger than it is on your newer BX1870.

It's the same, so no smacking around on trees with the steering wheel! :D

I guess that means no pulling on the steering wheel to get on?

But how am I going to get on it? Wait, maybe I just won't get off it anymore.;)

Yes, it is an 1870. Same part though anyway.

Back together, no issues. I have to actually give props to Kubota design. IF you take these apart the correct way, it goes fairly easy. IF start the wrong way, like I did, it becomes a pita. I liked too how almost all the nuts bolts were same size so I didn't have to swap tools constantly.

In the past I have given no thought to hanging onto the steering wheel to mount and unmount. I will be very careful in the future. I almost think this was damaged by me in the past and it only took one more obstacle to finally break it all the way.
