Orange Dudes,

I know this is somewhat of a trick question but I'm getting ready to build a Ballast Box. How much weight do you think it should be for my L4701 with the FEL?

Im guessing at this, would help to know loader lift capacity and what 3 point will carry. I would consider 1/2 what loader lifts keeping in mind it shouldnt exceed 3 point lifting capacity.

1 55 gallon barrel full of concrete, should do nicely...:D:D
That was my thought. We had one we used behind dad's l2250. He parked the barrel down at the local precast plant and had them fill it at a discount when one of the cement trucks came back with a partial load. He stuffed a draw bar through it with some angle iron sticking out the top for the top link. Eventually the barrel disintegrated, and we just had a barrel shaped concrete weight for the tractor :D

Just talked to my dealer and he said 1200lbs would be perfect. I am going to build one with all kinds of SHIP on it. Kinda taking ideas from all the photos as well as incorporating some of the 'Big Tool Rack" stuff they have on there site.

I'll post pictures when I get it done. Don't get to anxious for pics. Might take me a year to build with my schedule....LOL

If you go back through the site there was a long thread on weights,,, everything from old bar bell weights to some super clean and well though out welded up steel ones,, just a thought

I went through the sites and that's how I came up with the one I want to build. I hate to say it but I stole a bunch of ideas....

We dont steal ideas around here, we borrow and improve upon them and then return them by way of photos.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
