Need some advice on B9200 HST.
Need to replace the coupling on the propshaft. I split the tractor at the bell housing, got the clutch release bearing off.
From the parts diagram attached I was able to remove the roll pin, Item 100, that attaches the coupling to the transmission input shaft.
The coupling, Item 20, will not pass through the bell housing. Can't figure out how the coupling is attached to the prop shaft.
Any ideas or advice ???

P/N 70 is a snap ring on the inside that needs to be taken out to release the internals.

Thanks, after I read your reply looked at the diagram again, then went out to the tractor and cleaned 30 see odd years of crud off the end of the coupling. I was able to get the snap ring off and extract the shaft from the bell housing. This was I great help. I was try to avoid separating the whole clutch frame housing from the rear axle assy.
I'm pretty sure I can reassemble the new parts in the reverse procedure.
Just waiting for parts now.

Thanks again!!

@Jugtown I finally determined that my B2150 is missing that roll pin #100 you mention above. With all the stuff mounted under the tractor I had never looked up there, but boy howdy did I have a racket on my hands if I pushed in the clutch too far! Tractor is split right now awaiting a rebuilt engine, so am tackling this area the tractor now. Glad to find your post and Wolfman's reply!

Glad it helped. Keep us posted on the rebuild.

Good day, sir. Can you confirm whether or not there's supposed to be grease of any kind in that ball joint? I would assume so based on the two rubber gaskets, but would rather take the word of an expert! I got mine apart Saturday and it was mostly dust/rust inside, but a small amount of dust was stuck to what looked like could have been ancient grease. I sure hope it needs grease, to help me keep everything together as I reassemble while lying on my back. I really wish the ball joint socket would fit through the bellhousing opening so I could assemble on the bench and slide through.

As far as I remember there should be grease in the joint, I didn't over pack it for fear of it blowing out the gasket. I had the same issue with assembling it in the 'tunnel'. Figured I'd give it try before having to remove the bell housing from the transmission, took me about an hour of fiddling with it. Getting the snap ring fully seated in the groove was probably the hardest part. Finally came up with a piece of PVC pipe that slipped over the shaft with an OD that matched the ring, a slight tap then seated the ring.

Thanks! I was fighting that snap ring for a long time from underneath before I finally crawled out from underneath to take a deep breath. Then I looked down and realized I could access the snap ring if I held it up against the bellhousing opening :cautious:

A small amount of grease is fine, it's not 100% required as there is no way to add grease later on.

Thank you. I'll add some grease upon reinstallation and hope for the best. So far I've not had much luck with this tractor.
