I have a B7800 and like to change fluids and filters regularly. But the cost of Kubota filters and fluids are expensive. Has anyone ever used Wix or Fram filters and if so do you have the comparable numbers? I have used a Wix 51334 oil filter without a problem. I had found that a Wix 51551 is supposed to work for the hydraulic oil filter but have not tried it yet. And I have found no numbers for the HSD filter in a Wix or Fram.

Jim,

despite the fact that Kubota does NOT make filters and the fact the Wix makes a good filter, how much IS the difference in price between the two?

Now a fram filter.......... gonna take the 5th.

I'd run Wix all day long.
I'll plead the 5th on Fram also. But I will say I haven't used one since the 90s.

I have nothing against Wix filters though I do use Bosch filters in my cars and trucks. I am sure there are filters out there as good as what Kubota sells but I'll continue using their filters, especially for my HST transmission. For the difference in price and as often as they need changed I see no reason to do otherwise.

Use ANY hyd fluids other than Kubota at considerable risk.…and there’s a good chance you’ll be back here asking how to fix it and what did you do wrong. Get the Owners Manual and Follow it!

Don’t put a Fram filter on that tractor, oil or hydraulic. Wix are good filters.
You can do a lookup at the following link or just go to Wix.com, select Off Road Vehicles, Tractor, Kubota and your model.

Here in NH it's about 2x as much for the one with Kubota printed on it.

Sorry I didn’t say more than “Don’t put a Fram on that tractor.” I have a Ram with the Cummins diesel. The first one I bought was in 1998. Several owners (based on online forums) had problems with Frams coming apart due to high start up oil pressure. It seems as though Fram doesn’t make an adequate filter for diesels.

An online search of Fram versus Wix will provide all the info as to why Wix is the better choice. However, like you, I usually go with the OEM filters from the dealer.

But....the OP is asking about FILTERS....not FLUIDS!

Baldwin filters are excellent, and less expensive than Kubota.
I saved over $100 for a complete set of Baldwin filters (E-Bay) for my L48 TLB.

In his opening statement he said he wanted to change filters and fluids regularly…. that’s why I tossed-in the remark suggesting he stay with Kubota fluids. Sorry to have disturbed you fried by being conversational with the topic of changing filters AND fluids.

(Jeesh, sometimes and some folks like to jump on anyone over the smallest imagined infractions.)

True!
But IM
Fried, you're correct he only asked about filters. I bet if he's wanting to not pay Kubota for filters he SURLY will scream about fluid cost!!!
AGREED!
But.......IMHO it is FAR more important to NOT cheap out on fluid, than it is to cheap out on filters.
The best filter on the planet will not provide proper service with crappy/cheap fluid.

I have a Cummings diesel in my motor home, Cummings said the engine is guaranteed for life as long as I keep records of oil changes and filter changes. If I ever i use a Balwin there is no guarantee.
Wix is the best filter made. O'reillys are one of the main suppliers. On there web site you can look up every filter for your tractor. Good luck, don't use a Balwin.

I got a Fram motor oil filter when I first got the Kubota tractor.

I literally had the Fram in one hand and Kubota branded filter in the other.

Something just wasn’t right with the Fram. Hard to describe, but it’s still on the shelf 10 years later…

My poor B7200 has had nothing but Fram oil filters on it for the 30 years I have owned it. I must be really lucky 🤣

My point EXACTLY!
Fluid type/brand is FAR more important than filter brand.
