B7100HST vs. B9200HSD

I have a 7100 that's been a good tractor and is in great shape. I've pretty much given up on the search for a cost effective FEL for the 7100. I've read more than once the best way to upgrade to a FEL is to buy a tractors with a FEL.

I ran into a 9200 with 860 hours, FEL, backhoe and 60" mower deck. Not really interested in the backhoe but what the heck. I've not talked to the owner yet but wanted to get thoughts on the 9200 vs. the 7100 before I start any discussions.

What's the good & bad??

That's a good tractor model, top of the mark for size in that era of production.
Easy enough to get parts, nothing stands out as red flags.

Thanks Wolfman, I'll take a look at the 9200. Hard decision to get rid of the 7100, it's in exceptional shape with low hours.

The B9200 came out in about 1986. It was just a bit bigger, longer then the B8200. It was the first of that age that you could leave the MMM on with the loader brackets still in place. Nice machines.

Just sold my B9200. Only complaint was no power steering, however I found I was able to install a power steering unit (and metal hydro lines) from a B2150 with no major modifications. Worked MINT and gave me YEARS of use with MINIMAL issues.

Make sure you go thru the machine, change the hydro with SUDT2 and fresh coolant. Fresh 10w30 diesel oil, new filters, etc and you'll be good to go for many years.

Keep in mind the B9200 only has room for 3 digits on the hour meter (at least mine did) so you might have 860, 1860,2860, etc hours on it. Don't go purely by the hours. Does it start well? Any leaks? Hydro have good power on hills? smoke? Loader tight?

For its size it was a great machine. Load the rear tires if you're going to max out the loader capacity.
