I just picked up a tractor today a B7100HST-D. Has some minor issues I would like to get fixed. The one high pressure fuel line is leaking coming from the injection pump. The knob for the decompression cable is seized and wont move. Other than that the tractor is pretty sound it's a little rough but I didn't pay much and it came with a mower deck. This is my first Kubota tractor I'm a diesel mechanic by trade on vocational trucks. So what are some things I should do since this tractor is new to me should I just do the normal maintenance items? Also I was wondering if it can be converted over to a water pump the guy I bought it from said it can be. I'll be using the tractor to mow and put in a small food plot for hunting.

Download the service manual from here:

Do all the fluid changes and grease all the fittings, etc.

While it can be converted to a water pump, it really isn't worth the effort if the cooling system is clean and the rad is full. The thermosiphon system works very well. In fact, some have found that adding a water pump just makes things run too cold since the rad is so efficient.

Ok thanks I appreciate it. I'll probably end up adding a water temp gauge and a block heater is their any way to find out the year of this tractor.

The years dates on these are not always accurate, but give the serial number and might be able to give you some clue.
I can tell you as it sounds like the early run of the b7100's as the later runs didn't have decompression.

The decompression is not required anymore with the newer battery technology.

I order to convert it to a water pump you have to change the front case, add an alternator and convert the radiator to have smaller inlets and outlets and at different angles.

I don't convert them unless the motor is already a water pump model.

Just do the fluids, filters and clean or replace both hydraulic filter screens,
Clean the exterior of the radiator thoroughly, remove the grill to do this! ;)

Thanks I appreciate it that's one thing that is missing that I have to find is a grille or I'm going to fab one up. I'll go everything and change fluids.
