Looked at a B7100DT with 219 loader today, here's the rundown:

1700 hours
Needs hydraulic hoses for loader
Needs kingpins/bushings
Needs Centerpin /bushings
Smokes a little (black) when running, no noticeable blowby at oil breather
Needs charging system check (had to jumpstart)
Pins and bushings on loader are worn, some quite badly.
Rear wheel hubs very loose
Loader pump makes noise on start-up, quiets after 3-4 seconds runtime (cavitating?).
Radiator weeps at neck

Asking price was $5000, what's a fair price for this beast in the Pacific Northwest?

I don't think that that price is that far out of the question especially for Canada, It's kind of a weighing game as a loader on a B7100 is rather pricey just on it's own, I have $2500 just in mine alone.
I don't think rebuilding the loader is all that hard or expensive as long as you do the work yourself.
I would offer $4000 and see where it goes from there.;)

I offered $3500, moved to $4000 and the seller wanted to think about it. I decided to pull the plug on the deal today and let the seller know, I'm sure it'll sell so I don't feel too bad about backing out of the deal.

I don't need another tractor, my B6100 works just fine. I just would like a FEL for piling snow, moving gravel... the usual.
I've considered a loader from Coldwater Tractor but while I've heard they work/fit well, they're kinda ugly and crude looking.

I'm gonna keep looking out for a B7100 HST with FEL, that way I'll get a (sort of) live PTO to run the snowblower as well.

p.s. phaser... nice score, I'll give ya $4701! :p

You'd come out alot cheaper all across the board buying a loader from Coldwater then have to by that ragged out tractor you mentioned and then have to dump a few grand more trying to fix it up...

I don't really know whats so crude and ugly looking about a Coldwater loader. I could see your point if it was zigzag welded together but I for one think they look decent and straight.

Found another B7100 HST locally, older, 4 bolt front axle:

3100 Hours, seems to run OK
4wd won't engage (driveshaft spins freely by hand in both 2wd & 4wd)
worn steering shaft ends
parked in open for years
needs tires all around (turfs on it now)
the usual dings and dents in sheet metal
no attachments with it.

I'm trying to figure out what to offer for this project on wheels, I suspect the front driveshaft u-joint is broken and likely a shift fork or linkage in the trans as the 4wd lever moves very easily yet I can't feel the 4wd gear engage.

I'm thinking of offering maybe 1500 since I saw a good condition one advertised locally with 1700 hours, snowblower, belly mower and back blade for $6000.

Is this too low of an offer? It belongs to a friend of a friend so I don't want to be a lowballer jerk about this.

That sound about right, I got mine for $1100 and it was a newer one with only some engine and tire problems.;)

Pulled the trigger on the friend's B7100. paid $ 1000, he might just throw a belly mower in as well. Pictures to follow.
