Well,

after placing the dyno back on - there was a leak, blamed myself for doing a poor job with gasket and sealer......

the second time, there was no problem with sealer and gasket, but it still leaked, looking at it a LOT closer.....the housing is cracked!!! SUM beach!

I bet when I placed it back on the first time it cracked but then again looking at the flatness.......it is awful! I have seen wood straighter than that!

It had been removed a couple of times before I bought the machine, there are lots of tool marks around the flanges......

now.......what you experts recommend ? SPOSE a TIG is not in the picture????

I have a way to grind flat - but I want to wait to get it so called fixed before the grinding.

I'm getting good at taking off and getting back on.....last time was 30 minutes:p

Can you make a jig to hold the flat surface straight? Just a piece of flat iron 3/8" or 1/2" thick with holes to mate to the pump. This will draw the material open to fill with JB. and provide a flat surface on the other side.

Take a die grinder or any other similar tool you have, and groove out a notch along the crack, both sides. Clean with acetone. Bolt to your steel plate. Mix JB Weld (as Daren suggested) and fill in exposed side. If it flows away use a cardboard dam and duct tape to keep in place.

Use the slow set up Weld, not the 5 minute. After one day remove from steel plate and make another mixture to fill in the other side.

When that side is cured dress it off with a file.

I fixed a briggs engine that had a cracked crankcase. Used an epoxy putty called tech steel. Ten years ago.

My concern is the pressure from the belt. If you have access to a tig or someone who can, go that route.cant make it worse, its already broken.
