B2601 or not to B

HI ! Newbie here.
I am looking to buy my first tractor. My wife & I have just retired and bought some property in Cookeville, TN. I feel I need a tractor for mowing, some landscaping, & general maintenance. I like the B2601. I plan on buying the tractor with a loader & a mid mount mower and possibly a backhoe down the road. The local salesman told me if I have any desires for a BH I should buy a B2601 TLB because it comes with a re-enforced frame to handle the BH. He said that there is no re-enforcing the frame if I should buy the BH a year or two down the road. Is this true or does he want to get a bigger commission now ?

let me ask you this, CAN you afford the BH now???? IF so - get it now - YOU will not regret it. Many will say rent one when you need one, and I understand that, BUT I will tell you this - having it ALL THE time sitting there ready to go.....is a damn good feeling.

Getting it later.......there will be 20 times YOU wished you had it now!
Ya - I know, it is a hellva chunk of change.......but to me it is worth it!!!

Its a subframe that is designed for your machine. Now or later, same parts....

The B01 are a good size for people who arent doing a lot of ground work. Bigger than a BX, but smaller than the B50, they are a good compromise. The seat is comfy too. Intergrated loader valve, 3 range HST, whats not to like?

Just took delivery of mine today. Plus mmm. Wished I'd bought one on my
L2250 in 1985. Sold the L and got the Works this time.

Is he trying to sell you a B2601 or a B26? The B26 would have the reinforcements not the B2601. The B2601 would get reinforcement plates added to it as part of the BH attaching package. It doesn't matter if you buy the BH now or latter, the reinforcement plates will be bolted on when setting the tractor up for a backhoe. To find out the difference between a B2601 and B26 go onto the Kubota website.

if you really want the backhoe? go to the BH or go to the 50...


i love my new 2601 & use the FEL everyday.... but have no hoe on the back ... just a bush hog... so the 2601 is AWESOME!

if i was gonna do the hoe? i would have got the 50!

I just joined up, mostly so I could give input on tractor reviews...whether good or bad, I've tried lots! In regards to the B2601...I have the B2301, and I finally have the small tractor I need! Within the last three years I have put over 150 hours on a new JD 1023e with MMM and Loader, and 50 hours on a new JD 3025e with Loader. After 3 hours on the 2301, I wish someone had told me about this model. I bought a '15 model, new off the lot, this month.

It is NOT too heavy for grass mowing, and even though you sit high up, it does NOT feel top-heavy to me...I mow some rather steep slopes sideways...and it is just as stable as the lower-to-the ground 1023e. I personally do not need the extra 3 hp from the 2601. I did not get the loader (yet)...I do have a loader on the 3025e, so don't really need it.

Instead of a mid-mount mower, I use a rear finish mower, 60", and this thing does a great job of mowing. I also got r-4 tires on this one. All tractors including this one have the tires filled.

I wish there were more reviews on these models, I could have used them when first looking for a small tractor. I have other bigger tractors for field use, but this one beats both the 1023e and the 3025e for my uses. I mow three yards consisting of about 4 acres, and two fields of about 4 acre. Hope this helps someone looking for a similar sized machine.
