I use ATF and paint thinner in a 3 to one ratio in a spray bottle. Just as good as PB and lots cheaper too.

Ran out of PBB, will get more tomorrow and drown it.

Are you ok with reinstalling the clutch - pics posted above? Does it look like a clutch off a 650 hour HST tractor?

Should the throwout bearing and pilot bushing be replaced given the clutch condition?
If all the parts look good and spec out good, I don't see why you couldn't reuse them.
Just looking at the Pressure plate sides, I don't think it's the original, someone might have already changed out parts.

Posted pics of the Ball Joint and the Pilot Bushing still in crank. The pilot bushing plastic sleeve with grease storage holes is visible. The Propeller Ball Joint looks to have been installed with the special dry-up and evaporate grease.

D2Cat, did you add the zerk to the Ball Joint? Thats a great idea!

Now that the tractor is split, it looks like this is the first time. I say that because every bolt and clamp had the original grey paint covering them. As fasteners were removed, the paint would chip off the bolt heads and washers. Also, the wires securing the front drive shaft and ball joint shear pins were perfectly twisted very tightly and with many turns.

Well, its time to make the parts list.

No need to change the pilot bushing as I can still see the teflon on the bushing (that's shocking)!

The ball sockets are supposed to be round not egg shaped so that's the play.

Just a little grease when you assemble it should do, it's really meant as a dry joint not a wet one, as there are no seals to keep the grease in. ;)

Although the release bearing feels good with no play, does not rotate/spin loosely, feels like it has resistance from grease inside... I am thinking of installing a new one.

The Service Manual says their is an "external snap ring" holding it but I dont see one so it must be pressed on. Can the bearing be removed by tapping it off the carrier or is it fitted very tight and has to be pressed off? Can it be reinstalled by tapping it back on the carrier?

The B2150D had a holder with a Snap ring, the B2150HST does not.
Make sure you get the bearing for an HST not a D.

Yes you can tap the bearing off with a small hammer, it's just a tolerance fit, don't hit the holder, or if you do use something soft like wood.
Reinstall the new one with a couple blocks of wood.
Make sure you note how the old (direction) one came off and new and one goes on.

Plan on tapping backside of bearing for removal.

Would like to reinstall by striking the inner bearing ring. The chances of having something that size is not good. So, is tapping the portion that presses against the pressure plate fingers ok using soft wood?

Also, do you reuse the PP and bell housing bolts? I read that some have snapped PP bolts when reinstalling. And yes, I have 3 sizes of tq wrenches.

Apologies for the basic questions. Decades ago, 4 to be exact lol, I used to work in a 4wd shop and things were easier to work on and a lot less expensive.

Thanks again!!!

Asking question is a good thing, that's why we are here!

Yep using a block of wood on the face is fine, they are tough bearings and its not a tight fit.

Yes reuse the PP and Bellhousing bolts, no need for new ones.

Use the propeller shaft as a clutch alinement tool before you reinstall it. ;)

Decided to take it a step further this evening and replace the pilot bushing and seal. The pilot bushing was definitely greased despite it being labeled as a dry bushing. And, when the propeller shaft was removed I noticed it having a layer of grease on the shaft.

Also, has anyone ordered the Ball Joint kit (67111-13700) recently and did it come with the washer and one seal shaped like a 4 leaf clover? Or were they round like the originals and the pic in the Parts Manual?

D2Cat posted a pic of his ball joint parts from 2015 and it has a clover shaped seal and washer. This design seems much better as it would fit the opening of the yoke completely, where the ball bearings slide into the larger yoke, keeping dirt out and grease in.

Kubota sent a pic of the Ball Joint kit and the seals and washers are round.

NCO, I sent a PM.

Here's a picture to show you an easy way to remove the pilot bushing. Simply put some grease in the center of the pilot bushing. Find/make a round wooden dowel that JUST fits in the ID of the bushing. Tap the dowel in and the grease will push out the pilot bushing. You may need to reload with grease a time or two depending on how much you get in each time. Applied hydraulics at it best!
