New puppy today. Lost our old girl several weeks ago and have never been without a dog before. Our local rescue Lollypopanimals.org raided a puppy mill home with 120 dogs several weeks ago. Recently got the legal right to adopt them out. Well this morning we took a ride and a puppy picked us to be part of her family. Almost 3 months old and part Border Collie. What a smart puppy . She tired herself out exploring the world and crashed hanging out of her bed.

Cute pup! The photo is a bid deceiving though - at first glance I thought that was 'something else' behind her in the bed. :rolleyes:

That pic actually was when she crashed here are some better ones at the adoption center when we first met her.

Well it doesn't pay to adopt puppy farm puppies up for adoption. 10 days in we have a very sick girl, broken hearts, and big vet bills. She has a neurological problem and high fever that cannot be pinpointed by the vet after testing and xrays gone over by a radiologist. I did some research tonight and it's exactly like this but can't confirm it . https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5015927/
Happens when the 2 parents of a Border Collie have the same bad genes that would be present in a puppy farm. Really sucks as she is a sweetheart. Scary thing is if one has it the whole litter most likely will also so we have to contact the place we adopted her. After another day at the vets she has gone down hill quickly and looks like tomorrow we have to have her put her down. What a Heartbreaker.

@Sidekick - 30+ plus years ago we brought home Ernie from the SPCA.

if you can, please make the NYS whole lockers makes it more simple.

Hopefully you can hang tight for a day or two?

We spent the night on the couch with her basically crying and am heading to the vets this morning. She has now lost movement in another leg and in pain so it's time. Amazing how fast they creep I to your hearts.

Well the organization finally got back to us and they wanted permission to pick up the body from our vet and perform a full autopsy to determine the exact cause and determine it may affect others in the the group from the raid. So glad they have gotten involved and hopefully this will help others avoid the grief we just went through.

Geddy doesn’t get a lot of visitors, but his twin sisters are in town.

He likes the girls….will you play with me?!?
