We lost Izzy, our 13 year-old Standard Poodle about six weeks ago - a very traumatic experience...
Anyway, after a couple weeks we found Zak at a rescue place about two counties away from here.
Zaks a real mix of Border Collie, Aussy Shepherd, Aussy Cattle Dog, and maybe some Schnauzer. He's about 11 months old and VERY active for us 81 year-olds to handle. Lots of fun, though, mixed with a bit of frustration (and exhaustion) at times.
Zal's whole litter of seven pups were abandoned in a swamp in Wayne County, Ohio. They'd been there for at least several weeks before the animal control folks managed to capture them. (Some people should never have animals.) He was fairly emaciated when we got him, and very standoffish and untrusting. Since then he's eating enthusiastically, and has gained some weight. He still has some trust issues, but is getting better every day.
