Alright, so my brother and I are trying to find a recipe for what our Grandmother called a "Swedish Kettle." (It may also be known as Swedish Christmas Kettle.) Sadly no one thought to write it down before her passing and our Mother's as well. We had it every Christmas Eve. It was a pot of beef and different sausage. Does this ring a bell with any of you??? If so, you can make our day!

I think sheepfarmer is right on the money! My grandmother and mother were Swedish and now I'm longing for all the goodies we'd get at Christmas and the winter holidays!! They were both exceptional cooks and no one came through the winter without adding an extra hole or two to the front end of their belt! It's been 10 years since our mother passed and I can still taste the sandbakkels, rosette cookies, krumkake, kanelbulle kaka, etc. But my favorite by far is Kransekake (which could be called Swedish Wedding Cake/Danish Wedding Cake or probably just insert any Scandinavian name). Here's a pic of one:

Man, that looks too pretty to eat, and too mouth-watering not to eat!

We attended church with the Swedes when I was a kid. It was at Swedlanda Lutheran Church in rural Hector MN. All the treats listed make my mouth water. How about Oustakaka? If I can get my child bride to locate the cookbook from the church I could look. Gotta remember, you can always tell as Swede, ya just cant tell them much. I have asked my wife and she says no such thing in that cook book. Sorry man

you might want to check all the Scandinavian groups. These are relatively small countries and borders get crossed. My grandfather came from Denmark in 1921. The ethnic variations are washing out of out culture in this country. I remember listening to the old timers talk and snickering at their brogue. I miss that now. Yaa sure vee can do dat.

I have relatives that are still Svenska. Several still live in Sweden so I will see if some of them have any ideas. Decedents of my paternal Grandfather.
