I'm new to this sight so if I post something incorrect I apologize.
My question is,concerning my 854 loader.
Is there anyone out there that knows the maximum pressure you can set the relief valve at.
I checked the pressure and it was right on 2250 lbs.
I increased it to 2700 lbs.
Other than the obvious, tipping over ,what if anything would fail, the pump, hoses, cylinders or ?
I'm guessing that most people would say leave it at the 2250,but just the thought of having alittle more lift would be good.
Anyway, again I cant find any info on the maximum amount that I can set it at.
Thanks in advance for any information

Curious, how do you know your pressure gauge is accurate?

At one time I had tested a bunch of pressure gauges commonly used in industry with a calibrated and certified dead weight tester and was really surprised how many didn't even meet Class D accuracy standards.

Class D is +/-5% of span. A 5,000 PSI gauge can be off +/-250 lbs and still be within specification. That's IF it even meets Class D.

I'll also assume you've increased your rear ballast to offset the additional lift capacity you now have.

No,
Am I 100%certain my gauges are 100%accurate.
I am sure however that it's close.
We've used it several times for checking pressure on other other applications.
Yes I have plenty of ballast.
Liquid filled tires,wheel weights etc.
The more I think about it ,I might have answered my own question.
Why would kubota make the loader lift more than the ballast of the tractor will support??
However,if you increase the ballast of the tractor, the tractor will support more.
And that brings me right back to my orig question.
Does kubota publish a maximum number that the relief valve can be set at??
Has anyone else set up there pressure on a 40 series kubota?

The WSM and many Owner’s Manuals have a “Specifications” section that lists such things.

Hydraulic pump for main system:

Condition
Engine Speed :
Approx. 2700 (rpm)

L4240, L5040, L5240, L5740 :
18.1 to 19.1 MPa
185 to 194 kgf/cm2
2630 to 2770 psi

So as long as you measured it at speed, at 2700 psi your within spec for the system! ;)

No if you have that pressure at an idle then you are seriously over pressuring the system and a multitude of issue can happen, and none of them are good!

Thank you Wolfman.
That's what I was looking for.
As far as the speed my tractor was running at the time I measured the pressure, it was just above an idle.
So,I guess I had better get my guage back out and check it again at the higher rpm.
All the different kubota tractors I've had in years past, never have been the full throttle kind.
I usually motor around 1500-1700 rpm range.
Thanks again .
