Been offered a deal on a four foot rear blade.

Is that good for my BX2200 or is it too small?

Also can the tractor handle a 5ft grader box?

Yes a 4 foot blade would work, but it will be very narrow when turned at an angle.

On the other hand a 5 foot box blade will be a bit much for that tractor, it will work if not loaded too heavy.
But also check the weight of the implement as the BX2200 does not have a lot of lift. ;)

the problem with a 4' blade......when you angle it, the tires will have a wider stance than the blade - depending on what you are doing, this could be a problem.

5' box.......will work, but that will strain the 2200 when you get a 1/2-FULL box worth.....

A 48" box will work well! and will be about the same width as your machine!;):)

Multiply the blade width by 0.7 and you will be very close to the working width when turned 45 degrees.

48 x 0.7 = 33.6

60 x 0.7 = 42

Some resolution.

I finally made it over to see the guy with the 4 foot blade.

I have known him for a very long time, he was one of my high school teachers.

He had the blade sitting out, it had been in his barn for years. It was bought for a BX like mine many years ago. But it was never used, they don't have that tractor anymore. They farmed for years/decades most of their machinery is much bigger.

So I can see the blade is in good shape and pretty heavy duty, other than walking up to it I really didn't look it over. We make our deal and I told him I would be back later to pick it up with help.

When I get it home my son is helping me unload it and I see on the back it is a woods brand 60. So its a five foot blade after all.

I'm can wait to try it out.
