hockeystewey,

We bought a Land Pride FPS 700 for the back of our B3200, holds about 550# of sand, runs off the rear PTO. Works very well for the 2 miles of gravel and paved drives we have. I have used it a lot this year with the winter we have had.

The only problem we have with it, it is made for fertilizing fields, made to spread material up to 50' wide. We need to spread 10' to 15' wide, also with a cab on the B3200, I couldn't reach the controls for the discharge flow. Solution: run engine at idle and go, and installed an electric actuator to control the discharge rate.

For light duty applications, I think 12V makes more sense.

I'm in the process of fabricating a 12V fertilizer spreader that I can mount on the front of my FEL. I think you could do something similar to spread salt.

Currently looking at some ATV/UTV spreaders as a starting point.

I modified a pull type Scott’s spreader to mount to my Cub Cadet and used a motor and gearbox from an old cordless drill. The motor was mounted below the spreader wheel at first but salt and moisture seized up the first gearbox. It works great for salt, grass seed, and fertilizer.

Some companies make a deflection shield that goes on to limit how far they spread to keep the sand on your road or driveway and not out in the woods.
