3 pt hitch control system

I installed my backhoe onto my M4900's 3 pt hitch, then set the 3 pt hitch control system all the way up (position control), My front bucket became sluggish w/no down pressure. Realizing the 3 pt hitch control system must of had something to do with the loader issue I set the position control lever midway instead of all the way up. My loader was back to normal operation.
My question is = where should my position control and draft control levers be positioned when the backhoe is on the tractor?

What you are explaining is a mis-adjustment in the three point control causing the hydraulic system to go into bypass.

Get a service manual and adjust the linkage to the valve to be within specs and all will be fine.

And as far as what position it doesn't really matter when using the back hoe.

Kahuna, if I'm understanding you right you have a 3pt mounted backhoe. When I had mine this is what I did and it worked fine for me. After getting the top link hooked to the tractor I would slowly lift the 3pt arms until they just took the weight of the backhoe. This worked great for me and didn't overload the hyd system.

I think draft control should be set in zero or minimum when using a 3 pt backhoe. Draft control was designed for tasks such as pulling a plow.
