Mother Nature gave us an early Christmas present, 6-7" where the trees shelter, 11-12" in the open.
Then the next night, 2-3" more.
Didn't need to plow any of it, I only stayed another day, then the mighty F350 just drove out in 2wd. ;) IMG_0007.JPG IMG_0008.JPG IMG_0009.JPG IMG_0015.JPG

Took the Rhino out for a cruise, lots of fun till I came back, then found snow packed everywhere.
Took an hour with the hose to melt most of it off so I could put it in the garage.

Where is your vacation place? When I graduated from the U of A in '68 my mother moved to Pinetop. Lot's of snow up there.
Lot's of snow here today in Cobleskill:

How can you have "wet snow", when snow is made of frozen crystals of water? If snow contains water, then it is slush! That is why you have to plow slush because a snowblower makes a poor slush blower.

Okay, if you really need to be that picky.
So nature gave us rain, then a winter mix of rain, freezing rain and a little snow. Then later it snowed a couple of inches on top of that. Temperature above freezing this morning.
So call it what you like. It was heavy and did not roll well over the blade making it harder to push.

On the opposite end of the continent but we just got walloped
with 19" of heavy snow in the last 24hrs. It was the 1st snowstorm of the season to speak of,
power went down for 7hrs so not too bad.
Will be putting the snowblower on tomorrow now that I can get the snowmobile out of the way.
Letting some of the water drain out of it overnight should
make it easier to move. Carry on.

Just talked to a friend in New Hampshire and he said that he got hammered. The snow was so heavy that he couldn't move it very far with his truck, so he had to start the log skidder to push the snow the rest of the way. That is why I learned years ago to plow with the storm as best as I can. I can remember some blizzards where it was falling so fast that you couldn't keep up with it. I have a bad feeling that I should have put a clutch in my plow truck because I am not certain that the BX23S is up to the task if we get hammered.

Back in '86 when we put the cabin up, we had a single storm that lasted about 48hrs, and it left 42" on the flat. No tractor back then, but I had a pretty capable FJ40 that I had chained up the night before the storm. (all four)
Drove out with a minimum of fuss.
We haven't had more than 22-24" since that year, and it's usually warm enough that most or all melts off before the next storm.
Global warming, I guess.;)

It has been some time since we got really blasted but in the past I would plow then set the alarm to wake . in a few hours to go out and keep up. First time I ignored that I had a heck of of time. Snow was too heavy to push without the blade turned as far as it could go and even then the B ran out of traction. Snow over the top of the blade and piling up in front of the wheels. Tried to raise the plow and ran out for clearance. It is a lesson you have to live through to appreciate the old guys that plow every couple of inches.

This was the image in the MSU weekly email, don't know if it is an old stock picture or if the L4240 is still in service.

We got our first real snow and it was a doozy - about a foot. Unusual for around here. Then we lost power - but a pic of feeding time - we have about 30 wintering with us this year.

I am not gonna argue semantics with those that have nothing better to do than pick nits, but this is what we've been dealing with here in NB the past few days.

After this picture was taken, we got 2 more inches of "heavy wet snow" (everyone knows what this means)

The little BX is earnin' its keep !

Almost 22 cm, huh? That's darn near 10 inches!
You are in Canada, right?

I jest, I jest.

We're supposed to get nailed this weekend. I've heard anywhere between 5 and 27 inches... It is what it is. If we lose power, we've got the generator. I can blow snow... I have a truck... This is Northern Michigan, it's not the end of the world.

I am in Canada but we do most of our measuring here at home in inches, feet, yards, etc.

I know you were kidding, but for clarity, yes, those ARE inches. We have nearly 2' on the ground now from basically 1 snowstorm that lasted ~3 days. It has compressed slightly but still. Dang !

Diesel is ~$3.00 a liter here. 4.55liters for my (Imperial) gallon or 3.8L= 1 American gallon.
My $$ is worth $0.73 US
No matter how you slice it, it's expensive to snowblow this year.
