12' bath wing

Thinking of buying a 12' bathwing (Flex wing, Folding Rotary cutter). I am using 6' bush hogs on my L4760 and my L6060. I live in the south florida area and the fields have a grass ,nickname smut grass. It is very hard to cut. Most of the fields are covered with it plus your regular hay type grass.
Looking for some advice before I buy.

Howard, welcome to Orange Tractor Talks.

I have a 62HP tractor and use an 8' rotary mower to mow pasture grasses with. I am not sure your tractor would enjoy turning a 12' mower, especially since you say the grass is difficult to cut. I'd say check with your dealer. You don't want to put too much on the tractor and have problems that might negate your warranty.

Friend of mine sells Modern Ag brand implements. He has a 12' batwing sitting on his lot right now. I asked and he said they were made just for people with 50-70 hp tractors. They are lighter so smaller tractors can safely handle them.

Not used a 12' myself but their 15' is a beast. Never have to worry about rust either.

What's the cost of the woods vs the predator ?

I didn't even ask how much the Modern cost but it will be higher than the Woods cutter.

It's not a apples to apples comparison though. The Modern cutters are much heavier built than a Woods. I guess it would come down to the fact of do you want a light duty or a medium duty. I can get a price if anyone is interested to know what they cost.

Let me say this, I'm not trying to sell their products nor do I even own one. I have simply used a few of them for people I've worked for and was pleased with their performance.
