Land plane or box blade with scarifiers for an icy gravel driveway?

I have a steep 300' gravel drive, with the house uphill. When it snows, I plow the snow downhill. When it gets icy, I use a box blade with scarifiers to break up the ice, running the tractor uphill. By loosening ice and mixing with gravel, I get good traction for driving. By dragging some...

    Grease fitting at Tie-rod ends

I was greasing my L3800 today. There was a zerk on the right hand tie-rod end at the wheel, but none on the left. I assume it fell out and that there is dirt to remove from the tie rod before installing a new zerk and greasing it. I'm wondering if I can loosen the castle nut, rinse out the...

Tractor for 10 NY acres of flat, clay soil and wetland forest?

I got a 7' hydraulic angle plow for my L3800 last year. I have a 300' driveway with a steep incline and can plow downhill, and a shared road that is about a half mile long. The set up works well, but I get half your snowfall.

    PTO wood chipper for rent?

I've got a few hemlock trees to remove and would like to chip the branches. There is more to chip than a big box rental can handle, and I can't justify purchasing a 3PH PTO driven chipper for my limited use. Is anyone in the Finger Lakes is willing to rent one?

Is the rule of thumb, "if you can reverse up the hill, you can drive up the hill"?

I have a disturbingly steep hill and feel much more stable backing uphill, with loaded tires, and often a backhoe attached.

    3rd Function Wiring Options (L3800) and pros/cons

There is a spade connector in the fender by the left rear wheel that is live only when the key is on. That is how I wired my 3rd function (not summit, but from everything attachments).

using the grapple or backhoe to remove brush

I've had good success pulling out multiflora rose with a tine bucket. Removing some tines helps with larger brush. It works for moving rocks and pallets. https://www.palletforks.com/skid-steers/hay-handling/tine-buckets/titan-72-inch-skid-steer-tine-bucket-attachment-w-hay-spears/SSTB72.html

    Rear remotes lock up

I got a hydraulic angle plow that also locked up when new. It turns out the hoses were improperly connected. Both ends of a hydraulic cylinder got pressurized at the same time, rather than just one end. This caused locking rather than angling. Check your connections.

    L3130 3rd function advice.

I got one last year from Everything Attachments for a hydraulic angle plow fitted to my SSQA. It has not seen a lot of use yet, but it does work as advertised and the install was reasonably painless. Product Code: TRA-3RD-FUNCL - $837.00 Install video https://www.wrlonginc.com/help

SSQA snow plow worth the trouble?

I just got a 7' hydraulic angled plow for my L3800. Only 1 hour of use so far on my steep gravel driveway and helping neighbors out with a 1 foot storm. I think the width is right, and with chains on 4 wheels, I had good control and traction. Plowing was much more efficient with this than...

    Thoughts on tire chains

I have a steep gravel driveway and some wear on my tires. Last year, I used rear chains, and added front ones this year. There was a dramatic improvement in traction and steering control plowing snow.

    Snow plow width

I'm planning a snow plow purchase and am considering the WR Long Front Blade Hydraulic Angle For Tractors for my L3800. Any input on this implement and the width is welcome. The 6 foot wide blade will clear a 62 inch swath at full angle, while the 7 foot wide one clears 72 inches. The...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

You may need more gravel over the big rocks. Unless you want to dig them out.

    Trailering 3901

4 axle straps over the smooth axle housings will provide easy to use and secure anchors for this size tractor. Other straps or chains with binders can secure the axle straps to the trailer. Grade and integrity of chains and straps matter. You can minimize chafing, including if you use chains...

    First tractor

I see lots of low hour BX machines on Craigslist. Not many B or L series. When I bought an L3800, it was after recalling how quickly I outgrew the small motorcycle I had first purchased. I figured the same might happen with a tractor. No regrets about up-buying.

    That uneasy feeling?

I've got an L3800 and only 50 hours more than you have. I often work on hills. Though I'm still anxious, that is a feature and not a bug. A colleague of mine died when his tractor rolled on him. I keep as much weight as I can uphill, often backing up steep inclines if my loader is empty; I...

Anybody use a box blade WITHOUT top & tilt?

If I did want to spring for a Top and Tilt, with valves and cylinders, approximately what would that run for a compact utility tractor?

    Need for 3rd function

Rear remotes are on my wish list for top and tilt control of my box blade, and I was thinking of including an additional valve for the angle function for a front plow. Thanks.

    Need for 3rd function

Do I really need a 3rd function valve to angle a hydraulic snow plow on a SSQA? I know I'll need to raise and lower the plow (using one set of valves on the loader), but I don't think I'll actually need to tilt it, as I do with my loader bucket. If I don't need to tilt the snow plow, that...

    L2250 Free to me.

This happens to my L3800 some times. Moving the loader joystick around and pressing the HST pedal forward and reverse, then verifying I am in neutral releases hydraulic pressure and usually gets it going.
