Does anyone know why the BX23s manual says Do Not use oil that is API rated CJ4? I know that Rotell T5 & 6 are rated CJ4. CJ4 is intended for diesels with exhaust particulate filters. What can it hurt using CJ4 rated oil in the BX? Can it void your warranty if you do?

I have been using Retella T6 for at least 10 or 15 years without any problems. I can't address the warranty issue since I am not a Kubota dealer. What are the spec letters and numbers that Kubota recommends?

My owners manual states: “A The CJ-4 engine oil is intended for DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) type engines, and cannot be used on this tractor.”
I use Rotella T6.

Both Rotella T5 & 6 are rated CK4 which is CJ4 and beyond, backwards compatible. There is no issue with using either in your tractor

Because at the time that manual was written there were issues with CJ4 formulations in some non- DPF engines. That is no longer the case.

Rotella T5 and T6 are now next generation CK4 oils and suitable for use in all applications calling for CJ4. Thats why both specifications are listed on the label.
