I don't like the looks of the deck surface from the cylinder bore in that cylinder wall picture. It looks raised above the deck height surface. You'll never get a 100% seal even with a new gasket. I guess try with a new head gasket, but IMHO it'll not last long if at all and will soon pressurize...

If it's 5w-30 or 10w-30 and if it were my Kubota, I'd drain it. It's just those two grades under CK-4/SN that are now only allowed <800ppm of phosphorus.

CK-4 is fine and as mentioned, backwards compatible to CJ-4 and previous. But, be careful with universal diesel/gasoline oils being API CK-4/SN. There were some loop-holes eliminated concerning maximum phosphorus ppm's allowed, compared to the older CJ-4/SN classification. I think only CK-4/SN...

Which ever oil or weight you choose, make sure it's CF-4 or CK-4 classified oil. Don't use oil classified just for gasoline engines, for example SN or GL5. I need to replace my L3010 mid-PTO seal too, it's been a slow leaker for some time. Have all my fluid drained. Seal comes in today/tomorrow. Do i really have to remove the PTO casing from the tranny to do this? Or can I replace seal with housing in place? Thanks.
