What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I hear ya. Neither does my County or State. I even pay for weed control on my prop taxes and they never spray along my road-side, which is a State Hwy, for fire control.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Looking good! Something I hope to do to our dry-lot someday. Ecoterr makes a grid system like EcoGreen too. Saw them both at the Horse Expo in Vancouver, WA a year or so ago.

    Cylinder wall and head "erosion"?

Will think good thoughts about the deck surface for you. Picture was probably deceiving in seeing a raised surface. Agree about your concern of missing cylinder material in that area. It will be the weak link even with perfect deck to head surface mating. Keep us posted :)

    Cylinder wall and head "erosion"?

I'm all about fixing it right or go home, especially if you're keeping it and/or for the long-term. Personally I think the bailing wire, chewing gum, duct tape methods to save a buck or two is a joke and will bite you in the rear soon afterward. But since the OP doesn't want to spend the time/$...

    Cylinder wall and head "erosion"?

Agree, selling/trading changes the ball game completely, rather if you're plans were to keep it for many years and be a reliable workhorse. With that said, here's my thoughts/decisions if she were mine. 1 - DIY method Mark15 did + try on block. 2 - Just $100 head resurface and DIY block. 3 -...

    Cylinder wall and head "erosion"?

I don't like the looks of the deck surface from the cylinder bore in that cylinder wall picture. It looks raised above the deck height surface. You'll never get a 100% seal even with a new gasket. I guess try with a new head gasket, but IMHO it'll not last long if at all and will soon pressurize...

    oil type for b2301

If it's 5w-30 or 10w-30 and if it were my Kubota, I'd drain it. It's just those two grades under CK-4/SN that are now only allowed <800ppm of phosphorus.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I was surprised too when I saw it in my parts diagram for my oil seal pt#. Paid $99 through my local Dealer. Even my Dealer said whoa on price. I said better be made from titanium and bullet proof for that much. On-line vendors sell it for cheaper, but add their shipping and it was more than...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Installed my 'ridiculously expensive' mid-PTO shaft cap. Hopefully no more oil seal compromise/leaks for a very long time.

    oil type for b2301

CK-4 is fine and as mentioned, backwards compatible to CJ-4 and previous. But, be careful with universal diesel/gasoline oils being API CK-4/SN. There were some loop-holes eliminated concerning maximum phosphorus ppm's allowed, compared to the older CJ-4/SN classification. I think only CK-4/SN...

    Oil Question please

Which ever oil or weight you choose, make sure it's CF-4 or CK-4 classified oil. Don't use oil classified just for gasoline engines, for example SN or GL5. Those oils don't have enough phosphorus or zinc additive diesel engines need for adequate anti-wear protection. edit- Meant CJ-4 not CF-4 as...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Did a tranny service. Plus was time to stop that pesky mid-PTO seal leak. Also found metal shards in my HST suction pipe fine filter. Replaced seal, cleaned fine filter, replaced spin-on filters, filled her up with Super UDT2, seems smoother in operation + no more seal leak = happy camper...

    Oil Question please

I run Amsoil OE 10w-30 Synth which meets API CJ-4 specs. Prior, I ran Delo 15w-40, but got tired of the harder starts in the winter with 15w. My UOA confirmed Synths are fine to use in old Kubotas. I'm happy with this oil that has 2400hrs on the clock. Flagged data in my opinion is the...

    MID PTO Replacement B2650

I need to replace my L3010 mid-PTO seal too, it's been a slow leaker for some time. Have all my fluid drained. Seal comes in today/tomorrow. Do i really have to remove the PTO casing from the tranny to do this? Or can I replace seal with housing in place? Thanks.

    HST creeping forward

Mine creeps only on very cold days. I just tap my pedal in the opposite direction to bring it back to neutral, no big deal to me. And always, always set the brake before leaving the seat for any reason. Personally, if I were running a backhoe I'd put that tranny in neutral, but that's me ;)

    Front tires for snow

I picked up a set of these Duo-ladder style (which are the recommended type for AG and/or R4). They made a big difference during this winter for me, especially being I'm not running any ballast in the rears for more traction. Was thinking chains for the fronts too, but my Kubota Dealer said...

    Kubota L2550 Backhoe Attachment

^ That's quite an upgrade from just a 3-point. If I had the $$ I'd consider investing in something like that.
