Well, I did have free play- 2.5 inches of it... the clutch got adjusted to about 1 inch and now the PTO engages with NO grinding and even the transmission engages with NO grinding. Pretty easy to have done... lock nut, turnbuckle, measure the freeplay, engage the PTO, tighten the locknut...
