No, that's not what I meant. Flails generally require less horsepower to spin when compared to a rotary cutter of the same size.

Drawback to them is they don't like to cut in reverse (like backing under a tree).

I have a BETSCO (chinese unit) but i've heard good things about Caroni, Del Morino funny top and I think there are several users on here with experience with the woodmaxx units. woodmaxx offers "free" shipping.

Weather was nice today, as in not raining and no heat advisory. Got some tractor therapy in, more mowing! Hit 70+ hours on my L3902. Still have not had a regen yet. Not sure if this is normal? No issues, still love the tractor.

If you're working it you can go a long time between regens. Ive got 52 hours in since my last one and it will probably be awhile yet before mine regens. I mow 10-11 acres a week and that keeps things hot so the soot doesn't build up as fast.

I cut weekly maybe 6.....TOPS. And I think last week I caught the 4th regen in 230hrs.

Did some work today out back of the area I been filling in. I tried my best at grading, trying to get the water to go where I want and I got lucky and we had quite a rain storm a few hours after working. The good news is that it's flowing away, not perfect but now I'll have a reference to go by and where I can improve it.

Anyways, almost ready to move my lawn equipment shed. I also have some free heavy duty outdoor storage rack that I might modify and use to store the plow on and the forks and other attachments when not in use. I like this idea.

It's getting there, just a little project to work on every now and then.

But what's cool about is that I turned an area that was unusable into an area that is usable now.

I can't believe how cool these tractors run too. It was 90f, humid and the temp gauge never moved from its normal position despite me working it a bit hard.

It's hard to believe this area was filled with trees and garbage. Having a tractor, you kinda need a place to store the attachments and have a spoils dump area.

Eventually I'll cover the area in stone but that will be finishing stuff later.

Thanks! It's not perfect yet. The shed now is now looking a bit higher but that's what happens sometimes when your trying grade. I'm doing everything by eye but maybe worth to invest in a budget friendly transit level.

Make a water level. All you need is a 5 gallon bucket, a male hose thread bulkhead fitting, a short length (6’ or so) of clear vinyl tubing, a hose barb to female hose thread fitting and a regular garden hose. Make a benchmark away from the work area and at about a foot above the highest level you need where you can put the bucket in the same place every time (a couple cinder blocks work well). You don’t have to have the clear tube, but that requires letting water come out the end of the hose and you’ll need to keep the bucket filled to exactly the same level at all times. Strap the tubing to a stick with the open end towards the top. Start next to the bucket to mark your 0 elevation where the meniscus is in the clear tube. To dampen the bounce, use some tape to cover the open end and poke a small hole in the tape.

A water level is extremely accurate and cannot fail if you purge all the air out of the hose. Easily done by just taking the hose down a hill and stretching it out straight. Then let it sit overnight. A water level is how the romans built their aqueducts. I use a 100’ hose so I never have to move the bucket or worry about recalibration for different reference levels. Works like a champ and it’s cheap to make. When you’re done with it, dump the water, cap the hose fitting on the bucket and you still have a usable bucket. You just have to think upside down. If the water in the clear tube is above your elevation mark, you’re too low. Above it, you got more digging to do. I formed the slab for my shop, graded a gravel parking area, built several small retaining walls and 3 chicken coops, and built my back deck with a water level. I have a laser, but it’s only useful indoors. A decent transit level will be pretty expensive.

Second the water level suggestion. You can make one or buy one. An electronic version such as below makes one person operation easier. I have a store bought one around here somewhere but I’d be hard pressed to find it. Now I’m wondering where it is and probably will until I find it.

Well didn't do too much today with the tractor. It had to sit outside over night because I was working on a car in the garage, doing a brake job which should be easy but never is. Always something.

Words of advice, don't buy a Jeep lol.

Anyways, they paved our road today and it was like 2-3 inches higher than my driveway for some reason, they really made that asphalt thick! Had a delivery of fuel oil for the house today and the weight of that truck kinda messed up the edge of the new asphalt so I decided to scrape up some driveway material and spread it out by the entrance so there would be a smooth transition. That was pretty much it..just 30-40 minutes of some seat time today.

In that first picture, what kind of loader is that on the Cat? D4's usually had a traxcavator loader but that looks different.

I don’t have the foggiest idea. It was sitting in their field when they bought the place. Was probably parked before I was born.
