Katy and I spent the last two days pulling and digging trees, hauling brush and watching wildlife. Momma and sister ran, but this little one stayed for the photo op. She must have been a late one.

Spruce trees had quite the bumper crop of cones this season. I can’t recall ever having so many.

I got filters and S-UDT for the upcoming 50-hour service (so far, the BX only has 41 hours in almost 5 years... Can't wait to retire and finally start putting it to regular use!).

Before anyone asks: it has received two intermediate engine oil changes during that time.

D&R day yesterday. The back of the M6060 has been oily for months now and I suspected that one of the remotes was the culprit. I finally got around to spraying an engine degreaser all over the back end, hosing it off and wrapping paper towels around the rear remotes to confirm. Yep, the bottom right connector is leaking where it threads into the valve body.

The dealer in Sheridan, WY had installed an additional remote (middle), and the local dealer installed a third remote (top), but it's the factory installed remote with the painted connecting rod that's leaking. Not a big deal and should be an easy fix.

Added some compost to our very late veggie garden. Late freeze and incessant rain has delayed it until now, so hopefully we’ll get a few good fresh veggies before the bugs attack.

Then, let the LX watch while a 50 year old (except the Predator engine) TroyBilt Horse worked in a place where it can’t go.

Nice looking green house. Nice not to have to bend over while working and harvesting.
I could use a few like that in the future.

They're not actually greenhouses. Just raised beds. An Aussie product, actually. We got 'em cheap because they weren't selling at the local hardware store. Got all you see there for the price of the 1 meter size. On occasion, the missus does find a good deal. Those are just screens to keep out bugs from things that don't need to bloom to produce (greens, root crops, etc). I'd like to say they work well, but we had a pretty bad infestation of army worms and other critters last year. NOTHING we sprayed seemed to work. Hoping the same doesn't happen this year. We had a very late hard freeze which wiped out all the greens we had that survived our normal winter, so sorta had to push the reset button. Got sprouts, cauliflower, radish, turnip, kale, lettuce, cabbage, onions, and I don't remember what else in those. Gonna put the cucumbers along the brick wall on trellis, and probably some eggplant, peppers, and tomatoes in the tilled soil on the left of the gravel walkway. Then, we can keep the covers down when we start seeing tell-tale white moths to keep 'em off our greens.

After 27 years my Tractor wheels were starting to look a little 'rough'.....so thought I'd just touch them up a bit. Not a proper 'repaint' where you'd dismount tires thoroughly clean the rims, prime and use a paint with hardener. But just an effort to make it look a little better and keep things from getting worse.

If your tires don't have a lot of 'bead sealer' or otherwise fit ultra-tight at the rim, you can use cheap Playing Cards to 'mask' off the tires...so you don't get a lot of over-spray on them.

View attachment 99543

Spray the paint and them let it cure for at least an hour.

View attachment 99544

Then remove the Playing Cards and discard. If done carefully....there should be little to no over spray on the tires.

View attachment 99546

Since the rear tires on mine consist of a rim that mounts to a center flange....I opted to mask off the center portion with tape rather than paint over everything like the fronts, but it was minimal preparation.

View attachment 99548

I will let the rears cure overnight and then pull the masking tape. The rear tires had some amount of bead sealer around the lip of the rim so I wasn't able to seat the cards as deeply as on the front. Got a 'little' over spray because of that....but I can live with it.

Finished....except to 'gray out' the center hub on the front wheels and replace lug nuts with new cadmium plated.

With our move date rapidly approaching I have been filling a 20yd rolloff with the tractor. Cleaning out the basement workshop alone has generated a ton of crap. Its an easy choice - have I used 'whatever' in the last year or 2. If not, out it goes. Included were a lot of things that had nostalgia value, at one time.

Why would you be throwing out the roll of wire? One man's garbage is another treasure.
